WateQ is a web application developed in Nigeria to monitor water quality and ensure safe drinking water through collective efforts between users and water agencies. It allows for feedback on water quality, uses testing devices to measure contaminants, and disseminates information through various technologies like SMS, email, blogs, maps and social media to increase access to information and reduce health hazards from contaminated water. It was created at a water hackathon in 2011.
