Technology has advanced tremendously over the centuries. Neil Armstrong was the first man on the moon, which was a huge achievement at the time but is now commonplace. If rocket technology advanced so much in 100 years, imagine what is possible. Albert Einstein developed his theory of relativity, which was initially dismissed but is now used everyday. Columbus had no technology when he crossed the Atlantic 500 years ago, but now we have skyscrapers and other modern structures. If technology has evolved this much already, what may be possible in another 100 years will seem ancient to people in the future.
The adventures of mo the burrowing owl
Mo is a burrowing owl who helps other owls find burrows. One day, Mo discovers a newly built landfill near the owls' habitat that is filling in and destroying their burrows. Mo warns the other owls and leads them away to a new meadow location with abundant food and empty burrows, saving them from being buried under the human's trash. In the new meadow, the owls are able to settle into new burrows and live happily and safely again.

Sea turtles live in oceans around the world except the polar regions and migrate between oceans. As juveniles, they eat shrimp, squid, jellyfish, and cuttlefish brought by parents, and as adults eat sea grasses and algae. Sea turtles face threats from humans through pollution and fishing nets, as well as sharks, killer whales, and predators when nesting. They live in coastal waters, bays, lagoons, estuaries, and mangroves, but these areas also expose them to threats that endanger their survival, such as a debilitating tumor-like disease called Fibro Papillomas.

Archeologists believe the Maya civilization disappeared for three main reasons: warfare between neighboring Maya cities likely led to many deaths; climate factors like drought, heat, volcanoes and earthquakes potentially destroyed crops and parts of cities; and invaders entering Maya lands possibly overtook parts of the civilization through conflict.

Eric the Red was a Viking explorer who lived from 950-1001. He was exiled from Iceland for manslaughter and established the first Norse settlement in Greenland. While in Iceland, Eric killed two men who wanted to kill the woman he loved, Freya. After being banished, Eric explored Greenland and established a settlement there, though Freya could not join him due to her father's refusal. Eric fathered four children, including Leif Eriksson who is believed to have been the first European to reach North America.

New York was originally under control of England but had a period of self-governance led by Governor Leisler, who was later hanged after England reasserted control. The primary religion was Catholicism but others were practiced. Key natural resources included lumber, fish and grain. Farming was the main occupation along with fishing, and settlers declared independence from England due to high taxes and lack of self-governance, despite risks of doing so including death.

The poem describes a snow-covered winding road on a winter night. As light snow falls, the frail ice underneath remains hidden with its secrets. The luminous white snow prevails against any shadows, sparkling in the pale sky. As the sun rises, the swirling wind blows through the trees, lighting up the golden glow of the snow-covered road once more as night turns to day.

Tchaikovsky supported himself through commissions and conducting tours until his death from cholera in 1893 in St. Petersburg at the age of 53.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in Education
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

- 1. Was Castro Good For Cuba?<br />By Arilyn M<br />Batista’s government was horrible. As a dictator, he had a brutal police state. If you spoke out against the government you were physically hurt. Some citizens were even killed. He also showed little concern for social welfare. This meant that he had no concern for the care of his people, including clothing, housing and hygiene. He held violent crackdowns against his people! Batista soon left the country, leaving it to be ruled by Fidel Castro. Personally, I think Fidel Castro was a disgrace to Cuba in many ways. The first reason why I think Castro was bad for Cuba is the loss of land to the government from the people. There was less land for the people to live on, so this caused a feeling of unrest with the government. The second reason is because the people lost their personal businesses. The people weren’t allowed to post any advertisements or promote their businesses without permission from the government. The final reason why I think Castro was bad for Cuba is that he took money from the people. When he took their businesses, they lost money by only earning a percentage of their profits. I personally think Castro was dreadful for Cuba!<br />
