This document provides guidance for board members on how to actively support and care for staff. It outlines four key areas of focus: 1) Management - Make careful staff appointments, provide mentorship and encouragement, ensure adequate compensation and benefits are provided. 2) Mission - Keep the focus on the ministry's purpose, do homework to understand the mission, get involved in the work. 3) Relationships - Build relationships with staff through meetings, retreats, and bonuses, and with the public through promotion and sharing experiences. 4) Finance - Take financial well-being and fundraising seriously by determining how to reach financial goals through various events and leading by example with giving.
