3. Active Voice
• The verb is in the active voice when the subject is the doer of
the action.
Example:
They watched a movie last night.
In this sentence, the subject is they and the verb is watched.
They is the doer of the action watched.
4. Passive voice
• The verb is in the passive voice when the subject is the
receiver of the action.
Example:
The class was guided by the teacher.
In this sentence, the subject is class and the verb is was guided.
The class is the receiver of the action was guided. The verbal
phrase was guided is followed by the word by and then by the
doer teacher.
