5. Why Go Virtual?– Reaching a Generation Raised
on Tech
• Take a look at this generation and their relationship with
technology…
• The Beloit College Mindset List notes these significant things about
students born between 1995 – 1997:
• With GPS, they have never needed directions to get someplace, just an address.
• They have always been able to plug into USB ports
• Google has always been there, in its founding words, “to organize the world’s
information and make it universally accessible.”
• They have grown up treating Wi-Fi as an entitlement.
• Email has become the new “formal” communication, while texts and tweets
remain enclaves for the casual.
• Their parents’ car CD player is soooooo ancient and embarrassing.
6. Why Go Virtual?
• Meet the student where they are – on their laptop or mobile
device
• Communicate with students quickly and efficiently (and in
their preferred methods)
• Save time and money on recruitment travel
• Interact with more students (such as online students, students
with disabilities, student veterans, non-traditional students,
alumni, or students studying abroad or interning out of the
region)
• Participate in recruitment activities year round
7. Virtual Services at UF

virtually?

specific information

• Virtual info sessions allow you to
cut down on recruitment travel,
save money, reach more

word out!)
