Virtual reality has the potential to be highly disruptive due to recent technological advances in displays, sensors, and internet infrastructure. There are two key elements that could make VR disruptive: natural interfaces and lifelike communication. With smartphones providing high resolution screens and accurate sensors cheaply, and internet speeds and bandwidth increasing globally, the basic requirements for mass adoption of virtual worlds are being met. Initial applications of VR that could see success include education, events, workspaces, and building exploration.
