Microsoft products may work on a Pc (Windows based), or an Apple Macintosh computer, Open office is multi platform so can be tailored to work on pc, mac or Linux computers. Byword (Linux), Pages (iWork) is an Apple Macintosh product, WordPad, Works, Word Perfect (Windows products). There are also many smaller word processing packages or apps out these days also for smart phones, pads, iPods etc. These are smaller word processors for on the run usage.
For most people this is a creative way of displaying or expressing themselves depending on their expertise with the technology used to create the file.
Adobe Premier is a commercial software packaged with Cs suite and you need to buy this software, Photostory 3 is free and while came out for usage on windows xp can also be downloaded for Windows 7 but may have issues with Windows Vista, iMovie comes with most Apple Macintosh computers or can be downloaded to Ipad2 but not Ipad1 as it needs a camera.
