Juan Diego sees the Virgin Mary on a hillside in 1531 who tells him to have a church built there. When he tells the bishop, he is asked for proof. The Virgin tells Juan Diego to pick flowers, and he finds them blooming out of season. When he opens his cloak before the bishop, an image of the Virgin is miraculously imprinted on the fabric. Over 450 years later, scientists cannot explain how the image is preserved on the 16th century fabric. The cloak is now displayed in a new basilica built due to the sinking of the original one.
