Working overtime and overnight as an IT professional can lead to divorces, drug addiction, and suicides due to work-life imbalance. While working hard may please managers, it tells a different story at home. Workaholism is an illness, and exploiting employees to their limits will cause them to quit without notice. Pushing people to work more hours and compromising quality to improve productivity can make work less satisfying and increase turnover in the long run. Managers who impose impossible deadlines just to extract more labor sacrifice product quality and employee well-being.
