Professor Dylan Wiliam conducted an experiment in a classroom to test ideas that could improve student education. He banned students from raising their hands and instead randomly called on students to encourage more participation. This change met resistance from teachers and students used to traditional methods. Removing grades from assignments also caused confusion and anger in students accustomed to traditional grading. However, by the end of the term Wiliam was surprised by the positive impact on academic achievement. The video demonstrates techniques teachers can apply, while considering students' needs, to increase engagement and build better learning.
