In 2010, I decided to stop using single-use beverage containers.

in the United States alone.
Corporations, in an effort to reduce their operating costs,
have marginalized these containers by lacing them with chemicals,
and making them with the lowest quality materials.
They have not taken responsibility for their disposal costs.
Consumers only value these containers for a single use.
Nobody is willing to take ownership of these containers because they
are not worth owning.

My life in the ocean as a sailor has given
me a deep respect for the petroleum
products that make my sailing adventures
possible, this substance sustains me when I
am at sea.

I am in awe of the products and energy
density that fossil fuels give us.
