VESA AND AVIO
Avio and Vesa were two young lovers, Avio had long, shiny
blonde hair  and Vesa had long, silky brown hair, both had
blue eyes. Their love, however, was impossible because their
elderly fathers did not  want these two soul mates to love each
other.
Avio, the prince of Naples, at the cost of seeing his beloved,
descended  from his castle with a long rope.
Vesa, on the other hand, lived in a small village with many
inhabitants,  Herculaneum.
One day, while Avio descended from his castle, his father saw
him and  got very angry, consequently locked him in the castle
for two months. Poor Vesa had no more news of him, and she
began to worry from the  first day in which Avio did not show up
outside her humble abode. Maybe it wasn't meant to be that
they were together, but the only thing  poor Vesa was sure of
was that she wanted to see her loved one again. She thought
of breaking the rule dictated by her father, namely that of not
going out without his permission, but the temptation was great,
since she  learned of the punishment of her beloved. towards
the castle of Avio. She arrived from Avio she began to scream
the name of her beloved of  her, there was no answer since the
poor man was locked up in an  underground cell.
Vesa tried again, but with poor results, to hear it was another
person, the  fearsome king.
He headed with a group of bronze-helmeted guards towards
her, Vesa felt  a lot of fear, and for this she remained
motionless, trembling. The king decided to punish her with a
perfidious punishment, in fact she  too locked her in the cell of
the castle, in front of that of her beloved, in  such a way as to
look at each other but not be able to touch, hug or kiss  or even
talk. they saw blushed faces and exchanged sweet glances as
they hadn't seen each other for two months.
The problem was to get out of those dirty and putrid cells, in
the  meantime Vesa's parents learned of what had happened,
but they didn't  think about it anymore than once to stay in their
position and do nothing,  since they were afraid of the king and
his wicked guards. The only thing the two lovers could do was
to pray.
Twenty days passed but nothing yet.
The two began to ask the gods for help in vain, strangely after
a few days  from their request, the goddess Gea and the god
Aeolus, gods of the  Earth and the wind, showed up.
They freed them because the two were judged by Zeus
as pure and  simple souls.
Unfortunately the problem was not solved since the king
realized that the  two fled: Avio and Vesa wanted a quiet,
peaceful, quiet place to live  together.
At that moment the gods came up with a solution, that of
forming, by  joining their forces, a place with the adjectives
requested by the two  lovers, but obviously with a request.
Avio and Vesa, before accepting, wanted to know her.
The two gods rose to heaven and began to list the
strengths and  weaknesses of their request.
The two young men asked kindly and fearfully what they would
create  and what the consequences might be. The gods without
hesitation  replied that they would have created a mountain on
which they would  have imposed a shield for a hundred years
so as not to let anyone go up  except the two young people,
immediately afterwards they added that  this mountain would
have caused many inconveniences after the hundred  years of
shield to the population of the chosen place.
After having explained everything, the gods asked for an
immediate  answer, Avio and Vesa accepted and wanted
the place (in this case a  mountain) to be created in
Herculaneum.
The gods after five days made them find that beautiful, peaceful
and quiet  mountain that the two young people had kindly asked
for. Vesa and Avio were no longer in the skin and humbly asked
for thanks. Lastly the gods asked the name to give to the
mountain, Vesa and Avio  thought about it for a long time, but
finally they decided that it had to be a  name that reflected both:
Vesuvius, this was the name assigned to it,  formed by the
union of the two names of Vesa and Avio.Even today, it is said
that their humble abode can be found on the  mountain, which
was later transformed into the Vesuvius National Park.  This
was established to preserve the territories of Vesuvius, the
animal  species such as: the Beech Marten, the Sparrowhawk,
the Hoopoe the  Buzzard, the Emerald frog, the Snake Snake
and others, the flora such  as: the Neapolitan tree, the
Neapolitan alder, brooms, orchids and  Helichrisum Litoreum: a
particular tree, and the breathtaking  landscapes that Vesa and
Avio decided to have the gods create. Before their death they
expressed one last wish, that of being  remembered forever.
Nobody knows the history of Vesa and Avio, but everyone
knows the  Vesuvius National Park: their splendid, peaceful
and quiet home.
