Regional Tournament Sponsorship Recap
2. In 2011, Verizon and USA Football teamed up to help create a
positive experience for the participants at four (4) NFL FLAG
powered by USA Football Regional Championship Tournaments
across the nation.
Verizon delivered key messaging to more than 3,000 NFL FLAG
powered by USA Football athletes, coaches and parents across the
four (4) Regional Tournaments.
The four (4) Verizon sponsored NFL FLAG powered by USA Football
Regional Tournaments took place at the following locations:
-Northeast Regional Tournament – New Canaan, CT
-Oakland Raiders Regional Tournament – Alameda, CA
-New Orleans Saints Regional Tournament – Metairie, LA
-Houston Texans Regional Tournament – Houston, TX
Verizon leveraged its current NFL team relationships at professional
practice facilities and local venues that were host sites of each NFL
FLAG powered by USA Football Tournament.
Verizon utilized NFL FLAG events to promote its mobile products,
feature contests and giveaways and bring former NFL players to sign
autographs for all event attendees.

- USA Football Spokesperson and former NFL head coach Jim Mora Jr. promoted Verizon’s sponsorship of the Northeast Regional
Tournament on the Boomer and Carton Show on WFAN Radio 660AM in New York.
- USA Football distributed press releases to the local media market noting Verizon as an official sponsor of the Northeast
Regional Tournament.
- Six (6) Verizon branded A-Frame Signs.
- Two (2) “Verizon Field” A-Frame Signs.
- Main playing field designated as Verizon Field.
- PA reads throughout the day directing event participants and attendees to visit the Verizon tent to have their team and group
pictures taken.
- Displayed Verizon commercial on LED video board in stadium.
- Verizon representative participated in ceremonial coin toss on Verizon Field.
- Verizon received designated space for on-site promotion.
- Verizon activated on-site with its Verizon Street Team and branded NFL content/experiential setup, distributed Verizon and NFL
co-branded drawstring backpacks, lanyards and eye black and offered teams the opportunity for group photographs.
- USA Football produced three (3) Hispanic NFL FLAG Participant Profiles (written & video). Profiles featured a female athlete, a
male athlete and a coach. Profiles were distributed on USAFootball.com/Verizon, NFLRUSH.com and nfl.com/espanol.

Regional Tournament. NBC Bay Area covered the event and broadcast highlights and interviews during its evening broadcast.
- Former Oakland Raiders center and Pro Football Hall of Famer Jim Otto signed autographs for all event attendees and
participants at the Verizon tent.
- Current Oakland Raiders Head Coach Hue Jackson made a surprise appearance at the Oakland Raiders Regional Tournament.
