I recently had a patch submitted and committed and I want to share what I learned in that process. I’ll give you an overview of Postgres versions and how the underlying project codebase functions. I’ll also show you the process for submitting a patch and getting that tested and committed.

Editor's Notes
The aim of the presentation was defined by IDE as an outlook on the future of architecture and design in the development of commercial real estate.
To say the last word from the beginning, our answer to this question is in one word: CLOUD.
The future rests in how we use data lakes.
On a global scale, we propose to define TWO groups of societies : 1. Mature system and 2. Restless Search.
(We do not use the terms based on «Development» that are often used for such definition. The term »Development» carries overtones and perceptions that are often unmeasurable and depend on philosophical standing). Mature systems are defined as those societies where the individual stands in the core of the system as «THE HELM OF ATTENTION» and determinants of the system such as knowledge, enterprise (Business), space ( natural and built space) and public service work in an order of cost efficient operation and checks/balances. On the other hand, Restless Search systems present a continuous conflict vs desire for order between the main elements that define the system: resources ( human and geographic), economy ( Business and technology) and politics ( base for financial and legal action). Restless Search systems present contradictions, surprises, unexpected outcomes and perception of conflict even in very basic management issues such as parking space for cars. How Restless Search may lead to a Mature System will depend on local geography, culture and human capital.
The rest of this presentation defines recommendations for Restless Search societies. (Mature Systems have it anyway).
The reality for REALTY, that is real estate investment, tells us that there are three main factors at work which define the path for real estate investment: Survival ( for the poor); Competitive power ( for Social actors in the middle and upper income groups) and Recognition ( which is the desire for status, either real or perceived.-at this point real estate is connected to conspicuous consumption by the «elite»)
When we look at the interaction of space ( geography, land) with architecture and design in Restless Search societies, it all boils down to the COST of each item. The developer/entrepreneur will look at each item as an element of cost and cost alone. The reason is simple: 1. Lower cost of land ( whatever the method of acquisition is) will lead to the maximum level of profits. 2. Architecture should make possible/define/develop/maximise power to the developer; power will accrue both in financial terms and also in developing relationships with other sources of power in the economic and political circles. And 3. Design should reflect status, for the buyers, users and for the developer ( whatever their definition of status is)
When we look into the future of architecture and design, and therefore into the future of real estate development, we propose that a redefinition of return on investment is the first step. It is clear that global warming, environmental degradation and sustainability issues should concern the investor more than anybody else; this is because survival as an investor depends on how your products relate to the current issues and needs that govern society. Therefore, maximising return on investment should be based on «sustainability» and requires long term strategy and policies. This means that predictive analytics and use of data for decisions is a MUST.
In view of the current global issues that form the agenda for humanity today, it is clear that whatever we design, we are designing it not for a parcel in a specific corner of a settlement in a local community; we are designing it for a globe that belongs to humanity.
In order to facilitate the maximum, widest use of data in design and related issues, our mission is to build one, free, global information base which will be easily available to everyone; as free as a chat application for a social media site on a smart phone.
That brings us to the primary reality and determinant for any business today, and real estate developers and architects are no exception: the future belongs to the MOBILE INDIVIDUAL. We will have to design everything for that individual and will aim to provide the widest range of flexible choices to that individual for his/her preferences in the use of time, Money and space.
That paradigm will be coupled with the Development of Internet of Things (IoT).
So, here is the future for real estate development and architectural design: 1. MOBILE COMMUNICATIONS. 2. IoT.
The crucial concept to be introduced here is what modern marketing is all about. It is called EXPERIENCE MANAGEMENT.
The range of choices and preferences made, priorities defined by the MOBILE CONSUMER offers us the problem of managing the EXPERIENCE that consumer desires to have. Shortly, we have to facilitate the flow and realisation of the choices made by the consumer. Our mission is to maximize his/her happiness by assisting and facilitating his/her EXPERIENCE.
Once we make the crucial decision to employ data in the real estate development process, then we are approaching the opportunity for eternal marriage between design and profitability.
The reason is very simple: You get what you give. Our success in providing the right spaces, tools, images and means for the experience desired by the consumer, will come back to us as profits. And long run profits may be the only solution.
Provision of data lakes cannot happen by itself and there are lots of strings attached to it.
In addition to the necessity for providing the right range and quality of information, the process of editing that information and the freedom to use all of it should be defined very carefully. The question is simply one of individual liberties and desire for privacy. Data can be used for good and for bad purposes, depending on who is using it. Therefore, the interaction of sources of data and control based on benchmarking are vital for the data system to succeed and to be put to use in the right ( socially beneficial and personally acceptable) format.
This is how we define the «virtual cycle» for archıtecture, design and real estate development. The starting point is process management; by process, we mean the whole line of data creation, classification and use. This process must take DEMAND as its prerogative and look for analytical perspectives of the future which can provide leads for designers and developers today. Success in that mission will provide designers and investors the opportunity to make predictions, define strategies and develop products for the mobile kings and queens of the future.

Data based on special areas of knowledge and expertise will flow into a lake on a global scale. The interaction between the right sources ıf data will unite knowledge and for a single base. This unification will create knowledge which cannot otherwise be obtained.
The summary of this paradigm is that we need a unification of disciplines and the working together of specialists from different areas of professional expertise. Only then, can we collect, unify , process and use the right data.
