1) Total advertising spending in Canada increased from $18.5 billion in 2007 to an estimated $16.2 billion in 2012, though it decreased between 2008-2009 during the economic downturn.
2) Television remains the largest segment of advertising spending, making up over 50% of the total market. National TV spot spending increased steadily between 2007-2011.
3) Internet advertising is one of the fastest growing segments, with display advertising increasing over 20% annually between 2009-2012 and search advertising increasing nearly 20% annually in the same period.
