“It’s not as bad as you think – it’s worse.” Sir James Bevan, Chief Executive, Environment Agency
The Project Data Analytics Task Force recently launched an initiative to prompt and inform project and data professionals on the actions they can take in relation to climate change, and how they can leverage their influence.
On the basis that you cannot control what you cannot measure, the Task Force has developed a Carbon Self-Evaluation tool. This allows benchmarking in and across sectors. The tool encourages bottom-up action while providing data that will challenge the effectiveness of top-down strategies and policies.
A key point is that the biggest untapped potential to contribute is through using data analytics to drive out waste in every aspect of project delivery. The objective is an environment in which ‘climate’ is inherent in every decision we make – to maximise the benefit for the environment and people, and to minimise detrimental impact. The challenge however is to overcome human and commercial barriers to this.

Ashwini Bakshi: Powering the Project Economy - and Building a Net Zero WorldPMIUKChapter
The United Nations recently released a report warning of catastrophe if the world doesn’t soon reverse course on carbon emissions, calling this moment a “Code Red for Humanity.” But it’s no small task to re-imagine how every facet of our society is powered – and it will take project managers and change makers to lead the transformation that our world urgently needs.
We will welcome Ashwini Bakshi, Regional Managing Director at PMI. Ashwini will share his unique insights on the world's increasingly disruptive shift toward projectization and new ways of working across all sectors and geographic regions. Ashwini will highlight the long-term global climate trends profoundly transforming the future of work itself.
These paradigm shifts are placing marked pressure on organizations and governments to ensure their relevance and operate with dramatically hyper-agile approaches. As a result, professionals around the world also need to upgrade their own capabilities and develop the right mix of technical and “power skills” to effectively lead teams and turn ideas into reality.
Join us as Ashwini shares engaging stories and actionable lessons on how organizations and individuals alike can prepare to take on the globe’s most urgent challenge.

Managing Risk for Sustainable Business by Dr David HillsonPMIUKChapter
Everyone agrees that “Sustainability is A Good Thing”, reinforced by the UN Sustainable Development Goals, the current emphasis on climate change, and the drive for green business. But our ability to achieve sustainability is uncertain, which has led to the development of Sustainability Risk Management (SRM).
If SRM is to be more than a label or the latest management fad, we need practical guidelines. In this keynote presentation, David Hillson describes a proven framework for SRM, based on the Five Capitals for Sustainability. Discover how a structured vulnerability assessment can be combined with the standard risk process to deliver sustainable projects, green businesses, and a better future for us all.

Managing a company in the food and beverage industry is a fascinating task.
Food and beverage products are so deeply rooted in the culture of most countries that making and selling them is not only a matter of making and selling good and tasty products, but products that nurture people's body, soul, and heart. Given this, it's not difficult to see that the task quickly becomes complex.
The objective of this course is twofold: first, we will focus on contemporary challenges that managers and entrepreneurs in food and beverage businesses should be able to face; and second, we will provide models and tools to design and implement appropriate courses of action to satisfy customers and build an advantage over the competition.
This course is made up of four modules and an introduction, each exploring one dilemma that food and beverage companies face. You will be presented with a set of video lectures and guest speakers. These lectures combine an accessible introduction to specific topics integrated with interviews of managers and experts that will give precious insights and examples to the participants.
To enhance your learning experience with us, we will make a Documentary on the Excellences of the Modena District available for you, which is in a format that we have developed specifically for this course in order to give you the chance to experience first-hand the territory as our on-campus students usually do.
Each module is paired with an evaluated quiz and weekly discussion forums to reflect on the variety of the F&B world, its complexity, and the power of the network that we will build together during the course.
Successful completion of the quizzes is required for a course certificate as explained in the Grading Policy.
Honda Motor Europe Ltd. Italia e MAAN Motocicli Audaci presentano il Super Cu...Antonio Arcadu

A GUIDE TO SDG INTERACTIONS: FROM SCIENCE TO IMPLEMENTATIONAntonio Arcadu
The United Nations’ 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development was adopted in September 2015. It is underpinned by 17 Sustainable Development Goals (sdgs) and 169 targets. National policymakers now face the challenge of implementing this indivisible agenda and achieving progress across the economic, social and environmental dimensions of sustainable development worldwide. As the process moves towards implementation, there is a need to address the scope and systemic nature of the 2030 Agenda and the urgency of the challenges. This requires a wide range
of tools and science-based analysis to navigate that complexity and to realise the ambition.
This report explores the nature of interlinkages between
the sdgs. It is based on the premise that a science-informed
analysis of interactions across sdg domains – which is currently
lacking – can support more coherent and effective decisionmaking, and better facilitate follow-up and monitoring of progress.
Understanding possible trade-offs as well as synergistic relations between the different sdgs is crucial for achieving long-lasting sustainable development outcomes. A key objective of the scoring approach described here is to stimulate more science-policy dialogue on the importance of interactions, to provide a starting point for policy-makers and other stakeholders to set their priorities and implementation strategies, and to engage the policy community in further knowledge developments in this field.

How do different types of investors think about an investment opportunity? What kind of securities and contracts do they offer? How should a company decide what is a "good deal"? This course is designed to introduce you to the challenges and pitfalls of financing new enterprises. You will learn the basic tools for valuating companies, including using discounted cashflow analysis in Excel and understanding how to apply this model to your entrepreneurial venture. You will then learn how valuation works with different types of securities that investors use to finance startups, from bank loans to venture capital to angel investing.
2017 Bikeconomy Forum - Supernovavehicle startup storyAntonio Arcadu
Supernovavehicle is a Startup created in partnership with Dama Manufacturing Academy laboratory.
The Electric fun Motorcycle mock-up was officially presented during the 2017 MILANO DESIGN WEEK and, in December 2017, it was selected to participate at the 2017 MAKER FAIRE ROME. These two events were extremely useful to collect feedbacks through a survey, which results triggered us to develop the concept of the e-bike for B2B, intended for bike sharing and delivery cyclists.
In the same year, Supernovavehicle has been selected at the D2T Start Cup competition in TRENTINO Region and, on 24 October, it reached the final in "Mechatronics" category and has been selected to get boosted by HIT incubator (Hub Innovazione Trentino).
On 17 November 2017, the e-bike Startup joined the Bikeconomy Forum "Cycling the Smart Cities" at MAXXI Museum in Rome.
Integrating parametric design with robotic additive manufacturing for 3D clay...Antonio Arcadu
ABSTRACT This paper presents an ongoing work in relation to the development of a parametric design algorithm and an automated system for additive manufacturing that aims to be implemented in 3D clay printing tasks. The purpose of this experimental study is to establish a first insight and provide information as well as guidelines for a comprehensive and robust additive manufacturing methodology that can be implemented in the area of 3D clay printing, aiming to be widely available and open for use in the relevant construction industry. Specifically, this paper emphasizes on the installation of an industrial extruder for 3D clay printing mounted on a robot, on toolpath planning process using a parametric design environment and on robotic execution of selected case studies. Based on existing 3D printing technology principles and on available rapid prototyping mechanisms, this process suggests an algorithm for system’s control as well as for robotic toolpath development applied in additive manufacturing of small to medium objects. The algorithm is developed in a parametric associative environment allowing its flexible use and execution in a number of case studies, aiming to tentatively test the effectiveness of the suggested robotic additive manufacturing workflow and their future implementation in large scale examples.
