Presentation held on the OpenStack Summit 2016 in Barcelona.
Abstract:
If it comes to OpenStack there is always the question: vanilla or a distribution. You have the agony of choice, it will highly depend on your use case and organization. This presentation will not only highlight differences and similarities between these choices but also between the major OpenStack distributions.
We will take a look behind the curtain of the OpenStack products. What should you know about the offerings? Is there anything you may should evaluate before you choose a solution? There is more to take a look at than only the OpenStack product itself if you include also e.g. KVM and Ceph. What about the base distributions and support?
This talk will cover besides Vanilla also RedHat, SUSE, Ubuntu/Canonical, and Mirantis OpenStack.
Vanilla vs OpenStack Distributions - Update on Distinctions, Status, and Stat...Danny Al-Gaaf
One year ago in Barcelona we have taken a look behind the curtain of OpenStack Vanilla and the products of the four major OpenStack distributions. Let’s have an update and deeper look into it.

Talk from OpenStack Summit in Sydney 2017 (2017-11-07)
There is more to take a look at than only the OpenStack product itself as e.g. different hypervisor, Ceph, the base distributions and support. This time we also include new topics like SDN, NFV, Container and Managed Cloud. And for sure we will have a lot of new and updated statistics on community contribution and market share.
This talk will cover besides Vanilla also at least RedHat, SUSE, Ubuntu/Canonical, and Mirantis OpenStack.
World: Vanilla - Market Report. Analysis And Forecast To 2025IndexBox Marketing
IndexBox has just published its report: "World: Vanilla - Market Report. Analysis And Forecast To 2025". The report provides an in-depth analysis of the global vanilla market. It presents the latest data of the market value, consumption, domestic production, exports and imports, price dynamics and food balance. The report shows the sales data, allowing you to identify the key drivers and restraints. You can find here a strategic analysis of key factors influencing the market. Forecasts illustrate how the market will be transformed in the medium term. Profiles of the leading producers are also included.

Email Storage with Ceph - Cephalocon APAC, Beijing 2018Danny Al-Gaaf
Enterprise email make use of local or shared file systems like NFS for data, indexes and caches. Ceph disrupted the storage market because it offers more options. For emails, object store is a logical choice. Ceph offers two options: RGW and librados to store objects. For multi-million email account systems RGW would very likely be a performance bottleneck. To achieve high performance clients must be able to use parallel I/O. This talk will provide insight in librmb, an open source library developed by Deutsche Telekom, together with partners, to unify email storage.
Most enterprise email solutions make use of traditional local file systems or shared file systems like NFS to store data, indexes and caches. Software-defined storage solutions such as Ceph have disrupted the storage market in the last few years because they offer more options, like object store. For emails, object store is a logical choice as a storage backend. Ceph offers two object store backends: Rados Gateway (RGW) via S3/Swift and librados itself to store objects directly in a Ceph cluster. For an email system with millions of active customers, the Rados Gateway would very likely become a bottleneck. To achieve maximum performance using parallel I/O from all clients, librados is the best option because it uses the native RADOS protocol and involves fewer software layers. This talk will provide insight in what Deutsche Telekom, together with partners and SUSE products, is doing to move from NFS to Ceph-based storage for email. To make use of Ceph, we developed an open source library called librmb (librados mailbox) to unify email storage via librados.
OpenStackTage Cologne - OpenStack at 99.999% availability with CephDanny Al-Gaaf
High availability is a very important and frequently discussed topic for clouds at the infrastructure level. There are several concepts to provide a HA-ready OpenStack and also software defined storage like Ceph is highly available with no single point of failure.
But what about HA if you bring OpenStack and Ceph together? What are the dependencies between them and how do they influence the availability of your cloud instances from the tenant or application point of view?
How does the design of your classic high-available data center, e.g. with two fire compartments, power backup, and redundant power and network lines impact your cluster setup? There are many different scenarios of potential failures. What does this mean regarding building and managing failure zones, especially in case of technologies like Ceph which need to be able to build a quorum to keep up running?

This talk will cover:
- Failure scenarios and their impact on OpenStack and Ceph availability
- Which components of the cloud need a quorum
- How to setup the infrastructure to ensure a quorum
- How the different quorum devices work together and if they guarantee the HA of your cloud
- Pitfalls and solutions

This presentation, created by Syed Faiz ul Hassan, explores the profound influence of media on public perception and behavior. It delves into the evolution of media from oral traditions to modern digital and social media platforms. Key topics include the role of media in information propagation, socialization, crisis awareness, globalization, and education. The presentation also examines media influence through agenda setting, propaganda, and manipulative techniques used by advertisers and marketers. Furthermore, it highlights the impact of surveillance enabled by media technologies on personal behavior and preferences. Through this comprehensive overview, the presentation aims to shed light on how media shapes collective consciousness and public opinion.
0x01 - Newton's Third Law: Static vs. Dynamic AbusersOWASP Beja
f you offer a service on the web, odds are that someone will abuse it. Be it an API, a SaaS, a PaaS, or even a static website, someone somewhere will try to figure out a way to use it to their own needs. In this talk we'll compare measures that are effective against static attackers and how to battle a dynamic attacker who adapts to your counter-measures.
