HISTORY of ORGANIZATION
Vanarai was established by Padma Vibhushan Dr. Mohan Dharia in the year
1982. After seeing the usefulness of Vanarai’s initiatives towards
community development, it was registered under the Charitable Trust Act
in 1986.
Through this journey of last 30 years, Vanarai has expanded it’s ambit to
all parts of Maharashtra and now is recognised as a noteworthy voluntary
organization at the State and National levels due to its significant
contribution towards society.
Various initiatives were taken up by Vanarai in more than 250 villages with
the chief objective of making them self-reliant through people’s
participation.
We conduct trainings, motivation and awareness camps to encourage local
participation in the development of their villages.

• Construction of more than 5,000 household toilets: more than

• Conducted Health Camps in rural areas: 25,000 patients benefitted
• VANARAI established the ‘Vanarai Eco Club’ in
2002. More than 200 schools in and around Pune
are members of the Vanarai Eco Club.
• The objective is to spread awareness about
environment conservation.
• Till date, more than 2,00,000 school kids have
participated in this project.
It’s essential to inculcate the importance of
environment protection in the minds of the
young population in order to help them grow
into responsible and environment loving
citizens.With this Idea in mind,
VANARAI ECO CLUB
The Vanarai Eco Club also undertakes various other
activities for the environment awareness. They are as
following –
• Motivation, Orientation and Training of
teachers
• Planning of school level contests and
activities
• Cultural program and competition
• Bottle gardening
• Tree plantation and conservation
MEDIA AND PUBLIC
AWARENESS
In addition to public education, social awakening,
environmental conservation and the overall rural
development, VANARAI also works to bring about
social enlightenment. For this purpose, VANARAI
focuses on Information, Education and
Communication (IEC) while undertaking any project.
We effectively use various methodologies to achieve
its objectives.

sensitize people about environmental,
agricultural and rural issues which are
important for the upliftment of the villages.
