The document summarizes a validation exercise for a Conformance Monitoring and Alerting Process (CMAP) solution for regional aircraft. The exercise will take place on November 22nd at Malpensa Airport in low visibility conditions using a Leonardo simulator. Test pilots will execute scenarios involving alerts for taxi route deviations and entering restricted areas. The goals are to improve situational awareness and safety on the airport surface for regional aircraft.

• Based on SESAR 1 solution, but alerts are generated by the on-board system on the
basis of discrepancies detected between aircraft position and Airport Map Data Base
and between aircraft position and clearances/instructions provided by ATC by voice.

Operational improvements
• Alerting tool for Flight Crew on the airport surface
• Detection of non-compliances with airport configuration (e.g. closed runway, non-
compliant taxiway, restricted area) or non-conformances to procedures or
clearances (e.g. taxi deviation)
• Generation of visual alerts or visual and aural alerts depending on the severity of
the situation
• Use of on-board airport database, procedures and instructions received from ATC
via R/T and aircraft data, to generate alerts
• Does not require datalink connection to ground systems
Operating environments
• All airports. Major benefits in low visibility conditions.
Concerned actors
• Flight Crew
Impact on aircraft and ground systems
• On aircraft systems; no impact on ground systems

8. Solution PJ03b-03 Main Benefits
PJ03b-03 – EXE.03b-03.02: V2 Validation Exercise for Regional aircraft 8
Through the availability of an on board detection system, Solution Pj03b-03
aims to improve:
• Human Performance by improving the situational awareness of Flight
Crews during aircraft movement on ground, particularly in low visibility
conditions.
• Safety, by reducing the risk of route deviations and of accidents on the
ground.
• Reaction time to any potential risk.
10. Alert Situation 1 - CAUTION
10PJ03b-03 – EXE.03b-03.02: V2 Validation Exercise for Regional aircraft
A discrepancy is detected between taxi route entered by Flight Crew and airport configuration.
Alert name Brief description
TAXI ROUTE OVER
RESTRICTED AREA
The taxi route based on ATC clearance contains:
- a closed runway/taxiway
- a runway/taxiway restricted to the aircraft
- a runway/taxiway unsuitable to the aircraft peculiarities (PCN; Wing Span)
11. Alert Situation 2 - WARNING
11PJ03b-03 – EXE.03b-03.02: V2 Validation Exercise for Regional aircraft
The CMAP function has lost the aircraft position.
Alert name Brief description

The aircraft enters a restricted area.
Alert name Brief description
A/C ON
RESTRICTED AREA
The aircraft enters:
- a closed runway/taxiway
- a runway/taxiway restricted to the aircraft
- a runway/taxiway unsuitable to the aircraft (PCN; Wing Span)
14. Alert Situation 5 – CAUTION / WARNING
14PJ03b-03 – EXE.03b-03.02: V2 Validation Exercise for Regional aircraft
The aircraft exceeds the cleared taxi route.
Alert name Brief description
ROUTE FINISHED The aircraft crosses the last point of the cleared taxi route.
DEVIATING FROM
TAXI ROUTE
The aircraft deviates from the cleared taxi route.
15. Airport for Validation Exercise
15
The exercise is executed in low visibility conditions (VIS 3) using Malpensa
airport low visibility procedures during Taxi out phases.

16. Scenarios and Plan for Validation Exercise
16
The exercise is a V2 Real Time Simulation (RTS) based on Milano Malpensa
Airport scenario focusing on:
• non-compliance with airport configuration (e.g. A/C enters closed runway)
• non-conformance to ATC clearances (e.g. Deviation from taxi route)
Two types of scenarios are tested for Malpensa Airport:
Taxi Out North Apron to RWY 35R (TONA35R)
Taxi Out West Apron to RWY 35R (TOWA35R)
