This document summarizes a presentation on how design can transform government policymaking. It discusses how 21st century problems are complex and require new approaches. Traditional government structures can be siloed and expert-oriented, whereas design is collaborative and people-centered. The presentation describes how the Singapore Ministry of Manpower partnered with designers to apply human-centered design approaches. Through collaborative projects, workshops, and developing tools to map design capabilities, the goal is to truly embed design thinking within the government. The transformation is a mutual process that requires openness from both government and design. Key questions remain about scaling collaboration models and how best to teach design skills within government domains.
