The Ute Indians lived nomadically in Spanish Fork, Utah. They had copper-colored skin, long braided hair for men, and sometimes painted their faces yellow and black. Their clothing was made from animal skins and their portable teepees provided shelter as they moved between places. They gathered wild vegetables, hunted mammals and fish, and ate foods like camas bulbs, bitterroot, and grass seeds. They used bows and arrows for hunting and made stone axes and waterproof grass baskets.
