Using ArcGIS Spatial Analyst, Finding Suitable Location in Khan Dang Kao for Extra Dry Port
1.
2.
3.
4. Criterial
To construct Dry Port effectively and efficiently :
- Near the Factory.
- Far from existing Dry Ports.
- Near the roads
- Can construct on the Agriculture land because it
have more cheaper price than other land.
5. Objective
Map-production for revealing existing
dry ports in Khan Dang Kao.
Find out proper location for dry ports
construction in Khan Dang Kao.
Provide useful recommendations for
construction of dry port.
6. Type Of Analyst Data
The Primary Data
1. Factories (From surveyed and transferred from GPS)
2. Dry ports (From surveyed and transferred from GPS)
The Secondary Data
1.Cambodia Map and Phnom Penh Boundary (Jica 2003)
2.Roads (Jica 2003)
3.Land Use (Senior student)

Reclassify Distance to roadsclip
Reclassify lu_raster
19. Step4: Raster Calculate
In Raster Calculate: To calculate all those layers we have
to give the values in percentage and then we have to
combine it together at the end we will get the result of
suitable location for extra dry port.
For given the value in percentage of these layers, we
decided to give the value of as following:
-Reclassify Distance to lu_raster is 40%
-Reclassify Distance to factoriesclip is 30%
-Reclassify Distance to roadsclip is 20%
-Reclassify Distance to dryportsclip is 10%
20. Method for Raster Calculate
We have to Click:
1. Spatial Analyst
2. Raster Calculator
3. Write down the formula:
[Reclass of lu_raster]*0.4+
[Reclass of Distance to
Factoriesclip]*0.3+
[Reclas of Distance
to roadsclip]*0.2+
[Reclass of Distance
to dryportsclip]*0.1

27. The calculation of locations to find the suitable Dry
Port involves an integrated process of collecting data
and existing data sets which must operate within the
framework for advancing our objectives. After finish all
the steps above we could see there are three areas for
construct or building the extra dry ports in Dang Kao
District. Furthermore, we’ve perceived that all of those
areas are suitable for extra the Dry ports because the
result of those areas are near the factories, on
Agriculture land, far from existing dry ports and not so
far from main road. As a result, we seen that all of
these methods are suitable for our analysis, and we
can find a good location for construct the extra Dry Port
in Dang Kao District.
