Uses of Oral Communication
1. Communication is a two way process of exchanging verbal and non-verbal
messages through some medium which involves sender who sends the
message and the receiver (one or more) who receives it and then gives
feedback/response. This is a continuous process.

• To develop goodwill.
• To educate.
• To relate.
3. Oral communication is the process of expressing information or ideas
through mouth.
• Face to face communication.
• Lectures.
• Meetings.
• Conferences.

effectively.
• Career tracks that are based on communication are marketing, customer
care, corporate communication, public relations, brand management,
advertising and event management.

Some companies spend a lot of money to train their employees on how to
effectively communicate. Oral Communication plays a great role in today’s
business World. Therefore, oral communication possess great importance

through oral communication like:
• Careem: It is an organization that runs
through oral communication. The
captains interact with the customers
during a ride orally. Moreover, the
training given to the captains is also
conducted orally. The customer care and
the captains helpline is also through oral
communication.
• Call centers:
Call centers, now a days, are becoming
large businesses everywhere in the
World. Telemarketing is done through
telephonic calls in the call centers.
7. • Employee Morale: Employee morale can be
improved by effective communication in any
organization. The management can appreciate
their employees through good communication
with them. It produces a healthy work
environment. When employees are satisfied
with their jobs, they are able to efficiently
perform their duties with a positive attitude.
8. • Job Trainings: Trainings are provided to the
employees to teach them the skills and
knowledge that are needed to perform a
specific job within the workplace and work
environment. Many business operators feel
that effective job training makes an
important contribution to their company's
success.

meetings.

communication in the workplace helps
employees and managers to form highly
efficient teams. Employees are able to trust
each other and management. A manager
who openly communicates with his
employees can strengthen positive
relationships that benefit the company as a
whole.
12. • Intra-Organizational Communication: It is communication within an organization. It is
done to implement business plans. It takes many forms like orders, instructions etc.
• Inter-Organizational Communication: It is communication that a business organization
does with people outside the organization i.e. with other companies, customers, clients,
general public etc. It is also used to globalize your business through communicating on
International platforms.
• Personal Communication: It is communication without a specific business objective.
Such communication also occurs in the workplace. For example, personal conversations,
gossips between the employees or the managers/coach.

structured arguments which
are basically conducted orally
between two or more persons
defending their arguments.

oral presentation to present
information or teach people about a
particular subject. E.g. A politician’s
speech, a businessman’s sales
presentation, a teacher’s lecture.

consult a doctor, the whole consultation
process is done through oral
communication between the doctor and
the patient except the medical prescription
given by the doctor.

The customer service given by the
waiters or the managers of the
restaurant is always through oral
communication. They never give
you written statements for what
you want to order.
17. • Ragging and Bullying:
Ragging/teasing is a problem that
millions of students face daily. This
process is always done orally and
not through written statements.

sports, the team members
coordinates and communicates in
between orally again and again.
This is a great example of the use
of oral communication in day to
day life.
21. In a nutshell, Communication is perhaps the most essential component in
business. Without communication, companies cannot interact with their
customers. Communication helps us to understand others. The inability to
communicate can lead to a lot of problems both personally and
professionally. We, humans, are social animals, and we always need
someone to talk or share our opinions, news, and even feelings and
emotions.
