Our mission is to create a local network to support each other and strengthen the whole community by coordinating our capabilities and resources to better prepare, respond, and recover from emergencies.
Fairfax County Community Resiliency Group (CRG) OverviewJanet Davison
The Fairfax County Community Resilience Group brings together faith communities, safety-net nonprofits, civic associations, and private businesses collaborating to provide disaster recovery resources and capabilities in partnership with local government. Working collectively to leverage the available resources, these groups will allow each community, and therefore the county as a whole, recover rapidly and effectively after an emergency. Once the seminar and tabletop exercise series are completed, there will be a total of nine Community Resilience Groups (CRGs) within the county, one per magisterial district.
It has been a year marked by the formal launch of the Sustainable Development Goals, humanitarian crises, and political change.
But, in all of that, the role of business in addressing development challenges, from agriculture to humanitarian aid, and from health to climate, has continued to grow and gain recognition.
Here’s a look at some of the top Devex Impact articles from the past year.
This paper examines the institutional and political constraints that
inhibit multilateral and bilateral donor agencies supporting poverty reduction
initiatives on the ground. These include the constraints related to their own structures
and the political systems in which they are embedded, and those related to
their relationships with recipient governments. The paper also considers how
current trends in development assistance towards greater donor harmonization
and the associated processes within Poverty Reduction Strategy Papers (PRSPs), the
shift from project support to budget support, and the drive for greater “efficiency”
may further limit donors’ capacity to support pro-poor local initiatives. It also
discusses how these trends in development assistance are marginalizing support
for those aspects of development that require relatively little external funding but
also require that this funding be used carefully and strategically, engaging directly
with poor groups and their organizations, and enlarging their scope for influence
and action.

You have helped your clients see themselves and their families in a new light as economic actors. You can do the same for their lives as civic actors. The nations of the world have agreed to the Sustainable Development Goals, goals such as eradicating extreme poverty, eliminating preventable child deaths, and ensuring all children complete secondary school all by 2030. In this training you will learn how to empower your clients to use their voices as citizens on issues that matter in their lives, the lives of community members, and across their nation. By helping clients influence village leaders and members of Parliament through advocacy, we will make the SDGs real.
The “Definitions of Empowerment” represents a collaborative effort, made possible by the answers received from people all over the world on the Empowerment theme. Their invaluable contributions were essential for the preparation of the Empowerment Publication.
In order to collect people’s ideas and experiences, the Division for Social Policy and Development (DSPD) of UNDESA launched an on-line survey on “Promoting Empowerment of People”.

Russian anarchist and anti-war movement in the third year of full-scale warAntti Rautiainen
Anarchist group ANA Regensburg hosted my online-presentation on 16th of May 2024, in which I discussed tactics of anti-war activism in Russia, and reasons why the anti-war movement has not been able to make an impact to change the course of events yet. Cases of anarchists repressed for anti-war activities are presented, as well as strategies of support for political prisoners, and modest successes in supporting their struggles.

Development Aid Support/Knowledge For Development Without

Development Aid Support/Knowledge for Development
Without Borders (KFDWB) is an NGO, based in Vienna,
Austria, whose mission is to identify current development
issues and development best practices on the ground and
to make this knowledge available to development organi-
sations and local and national responsible bodies in order
to highlight and alleviate the problems at a community
level.
2 Why do we think that a new pro-
gram like Knowledge for Devel-
opment Without Borders is so
important?
We have all witnessed or been part of the failure of some
Millennium Development (MDGs) Goals to achieve their
assigned objectives. We believe that knowledge for de-
velopment need to be transmitted free of any costs,
equally across the world, for the benefit of mankind and
life. Due to the lack to access to a coordinated database
that has accurate information and knowledge, the effec-
tiveness of decision makers interventions may be lim-
ited. A knowledge database and a reporting system on
the ground would act to close the existing gap. Our or-
ganization, which is made up of volunteers worldwide, is
able to report negative and positive development issues.
The efforts of development agencies, NGOs, private and
public institutions and local and central governments will
be positively enhanced when they receive accurate infor-
mation, knowledge and feedback in real time for better
decision making and timely intervention.
3 Citizen participation in Develop-
ment Aid Support
We have all witnessed or been part of the failure of some
Millennium Development (MDGs) Goals to achieve their
assigned objectives. Local communities may be engaged
more in the reporting of the economic, social and envi-
ronmental problems they are facing so that development
engagements, interventions and resources must be effi-
ciency targeted and focused. Development Aid Support
gives worldwide everyone this chance to participate in
the reporting of the economic, social and environmental
problems that local communities are facing so that devel-
opment engagements, interventions and resources must
be efficiency targeted and focused into the socio-cultural
context requirements and the minimum human existence
needs in each corner of our globe worldwide. Please join
the Development Aid Support project and do this. It’s
in the advantage of the social, economic, environmental
well-being of our local people.
