During this lab, my partner and I had to figure out what our variables were in order to start the
tests. Our independent variables were mass, surface area, height, and the force applied. Our
dependent variable was the amount of time it took the object took to reach the ground. Lastly,
our control variables were the type of object, height, planet, force, temperature, and air
resistance. We then began our experiment by gathering all our materials for each factor that

The piece of media I will be analyzing is the US version of a TV show called The Office. In order
to prove that this is a piece of media, we need to first define what media actually is. In class, we
defined media as a technology of communication. Our book defines media as the process of
communicating a message from a sender to a receiver (Croteau Hoynes, 2014). The Officefalls
under this description. NBC is the sender, The Office is the message, and the viewers of the show
are the receivers.
The Office first came to be in the UK in 2001. It was created by and starred Ricky Gervais, until it
ended after only two seasons in 2003 (IMDb, B). The US then adapted their own version of the
show with the help of Ricky Gervais. The US version of The Office first aired on March 24, 2005.
Since it was first made into a series by the UK, the credit for the original version goes to Ricky
Gervais. Most credit for the US version is attributed to executive producer and creator, Greg
Daniels, although The Office had many writers and producers (IMDb, A).
Continuing looking at the history of The Office, we see its history with product placement. When
people think of product placement, many think about just movies. As it turns out, 71.4% of product
