DNHTC,
the hemming operation is deskilled and material handling is decreased.
The sleeve or body panel is loaded right side up onto a moving conveyor.
The conveyor transports the piece through the modular folder where the patented Union
Special®
dynamic feeding Edge Guider aligns the raw edge before the piece enters the sewing
area. The piece is then hemmed with the leading and trailing chain cut close to the material.
An optional stacker is available to then stack the hemmed product.

or two thread double locked stitch
All models for two thread double locked stitch
(stitch type 401) can easily be converted into
single thread chainstitch (stitch type 101)
and vice-versa.
• Constant stitch length because of combined
upper and lower feed. The combined upper and
lower feed grips both sides of the bag like pincers, thus

shortening or perforations on paper or plastic bags.

Top lock spring balancer 90191M or
90191MA1 (see chart, page 3) is
recommended for effortless
operation of the machines. A top lock
spring balancer reduces operator
fatigue, and keeps the suspended
machine always handy and safe.
Bag feed-in guide 2203E provides control of bag top into sewing
area and serves as a sewing guard.
Bag feed-in guide 2103E with extended guides for styles which are
used stationary with a pedestal; also serves as a sewing guard.
For stationary installation,UnionSpecialofferstwopedestal
styles consisting of a base and column with clamp to be
attached or screwed to any table. The vertically adjustable
clamping device can be easily lowered or raised to accomodate
closing bags and sacks of various sizes.

25. Use this chart to select the right bag closing equipment to fit your needs.
Bag feed-in devices
For plain closure styles 80800R and RL, use bag feed-
in device GBR29905X1. The device guides the bag
to the machine where it sews the plain closure. A
fold-over closure may be sewn when the device is
fitted with optional fold-over device 93051FA
(see back of this brochure).
Use GBR29910X1 bag feed-in and trimming device
in connection with tape closure styles 80800TL, U,
UL, UA, and UAL. The upper edge of the bag is
trimmed and folded over before taping and closing.
Both feed-in devices run completely beneath the
sewing head, for the best possible bag control. This
is especially beneficial when a tag must be sewn
into the closure, to avoid dropped tags.
On all Union Special feed-in devices the conveyor chains
are coated to minimize marking of the bag material.
