This document is the text of H.R. 3162, also known as the USA PATRIOT Act, which was passed by Congress in 2001 in response to the September 11th terrorist attacks. The Act aims to deter and punish terrorist acts by enhancing domestic security, surveillance procedures, and law enforcement investigative tools related to terrorism, computer fraud/abuse, and money laundering.
