INTRODUCTION The usability test report looks at
different perceptions of participants
who were involved in the testing of a
cap restoration guide.
The cap restoration guide has been provided
to ensure preventative and simple measures
can be taken to restore caps. Upon the
completion of the cap restoration guide,
feedback was provided on the guides
usability from concise and clear instructions
to the clarity of the guide photos.
The Participants were advised to read
through the guide, and if possible, perform
the steps included in the guide to ensure full
feedback could be provided. There were four
female participants, varying in age between
25 – 40 years of age. Three were external
members of the public and one is a University
student. Two of the participants completed
the usability test remotely, however, they
were provided full support via email and
phone when required.

SUMMARY
The usability test plan contains the
information regarding the guide that was
created, the participants involved and the
outcome from the feedback provided.
To assist with the planning of the usability
report, a usability dashboard was first filled
out with a plan on the product, procedures
and desired outcome.
Each step was planned meticulously to
successfully complete the guide.
The original usability
dashboard allowed
the space to fully plan
out how to
accomplish the guide
and what action
would need to be
taken to ensure this.
The usability
dashboard provided
thorough questions
for the smooth
creation of the guide.

Equipment Feedback
Once completed, each participant were
provided with a peer review questionnaire
with an outline of YES or NO questions
and space for further comments.
Testing Environment
Remotely and at the home of participants.
METHODS TESTAND
PLAN OBJECTIVES
The Participants were provided with
cap restoration items and/or advised of
necessary items, a laptop and the
repair guide.
While it was not completely necessary
to participate in the actual restoration,
it was a recommended step to ensure
complete accuracy in the feedback
and assurance that the guide did work.

METHODS TESTAND
PLAN OBJECTIVES The plan objective was to find out the following -
1) The guide is easy to read, makes grammatical
sense and provides easy to follow instructions
2) The guide answers questions surrounding the
use of items and the reason they are being
used as part of the restoration.
3) Testing the guide and the restoration allows
feedback to make any necessary adjustments
to ensure the guide really works.
4) Accompanying photos are clear and provide a
good visual on how to action the written step.
5) Adjusting the guide as per follow up feedback
from participants.
Testing would be completed
over the period of two weeks
when participants are available
and to complete the list of
objectives.

USABILITYFINDINGS
Participants provided varying feedback
during their experience. All four
participants were female, with three
confirming to be Professionals and one
a Student.
The participants noted the ease of the
instructions and had positive insights on
what they had noticed during the testing
period.
Two of the most notable mentions was
grammatical errors and colour
coordination of step bullet points.
Further to the main participants,
feedback was provided by the instructor
and tech team overlooking the project.
Helpful feedback consisted of
grammatical errors, the use of markers
and clearer accompanying photos.

Each feedback form was reviewed and
noted for the final publishing.
It was imperative to make amendments
according to the feedback as future
readers will have a clearer and greater
understanding of the guide.
See Appendix 1 – page 13 for
questionnaire.

USABILITYFINDINGS Participant one confirmed wrinkles
on the cap to be no longer visible.
Participant two confirmed that the
use of hand soap did come in
handing to improve the smell of the
cap, however, the inside of the front
of cap had some sweat stains which
could not be removed by the hand
soap.
As mentioned, the option to test the
guide with recommended items was
carried out by two participants.
Both participants reported to have
seen great results with the cap
restoration and found the steps easy
to follow.

THE NEXT STEPS The final steps are what can be seen
for the future of the cap restoration
guide and what steps will be taken to
address the usability feedback.
Grammatical errors will be reviewed and
amended on the guide itself. The
understanding of this comes down to future
readers and the benefits in providing a
clear and concise guide with minimal error.
It is noted that some mark ups and bullet
points were unnecessarily placed and
coloured. These will be removed and
coloured bullet points corrected to not
confused future readers.
Photos will be reshot to ensure clear
visuals of items and their portrayed
use.
The intention is to address these
immediately to commence online
publishing for the public.

CONCLUSION
The overall results of the usability test and the feedback provided was successful.
The feedback was needed to ensure the guide is appealing, well written and establishes
the intended results.
The cap restoration guide will need a few further amendments as not all caps will benefit
from the instructions.

  • 3. 3| INTRODUCTION The usability test report looks at different perceptions of participants who were involved in the testing of a cap restoration guide. The cap restoration guide has been provided to ensure preventative and simple measures can be taken to restore caps. Upon the completion of the cap restoration guide, feedback was provided on the guides usability from concise and clear instructions to the clarity of the guide photos. The Participants were advised to read through the guide, and if possible, perform the steps included in the guide to ensure full feedback could be provided. There were four female participants, varying in age between 25 – 40 years of age. Three were external members of the public and one is a University student. Two of the participants completed the usability test remotely, however, they were provided full support via email and phone when required.
  • 4. 4| SUMMARY The usability test plan contains the information regarding the guide that was created, the participants involved and the outcome from the feedback provided. To assist with the planning of the usability report, a usability dashboard was first filled out with a plan on the product, procedures and desired outcome. Each step was planned meticulously to successfully complete the guide.
  • 5. The original usability dashboard allowed the space to fully plan out how to accomplish the guide and what action would need to be taken to ensure this. The usability dashboard provided thorough questions for the smooth creation of the guide.
  • 6. 6| Equipment Feedback Once completed, each participant were provided with a peer review questionnaire with an outline of YES or NO questions and space for further comments. Testing Environment Remotely and at the home of participants. METHODS TESTAND PLAN OBJECTIVES The Participants were provided with cap restoration items and/or advised of necessary items, a laptop and the repair guide. While it was not completely necessary to participate in the actual restoration, it was a recommended step to ensure complete accuracy in the feedback and assurance that the guide did work.
  • 7. 7| METHODS TESTAND PLAN OBJECTIVES The plan objective was to find out the following - 1) The guide is easy to read, makes grammatical sense and provides easy to follow instructions 2) The guide answers questions surrounding the use of items and the reason they are being used as part of the restoration. 3) Testing the guide and the restoration allows feedback to make any necessary adjustments to ensure the guide really works. 4) Accompanying photos are clear and provide a good visual on how to action the written step. 5) Adjusting the guide as per follow up feedback from participants. Testing would be completed over the period of two weeks when participants are available and to complete the list of objectives.
  • 8. 8| USABILITYFINDINGS Participants provided varying feedback during their experience. All four participants were female, with three confirming to be Professionals and one a Student. The participants noted the ease of the instructions and had positive insights on what they had noticed during the testing period. Two of the most notable mentions was grammatical errors and colour coordination of step bullet points. Further to the main participants, feedback was provided by the instructor and tech team overlooking the project. Helpful feedback consisted of grammatical errors, the use of markers and clearer accompanying photos. Background Student Professional Gender Male Female
  • 9. 9| USABILITYFINDINGS Each feedback form was reviewed and noted for the final publishing. It was imperative to make amendments according to the feedback as future readers will have a clearer and greater understanding of the guide. See Appendix 1 – page 13 for questionnaire.
  • 10. 10| USABILITYFINDINGS Participant one confirmed wrinkles on the cap to be no longer visible. Participant two confirmed that the use of hand soap did come in handing to improve the smell of the cap, however, the inside of the front of cap had some sweat stains which could not be removed by the hand soap. As mentioned, the option to test the guide with recommended items was carried out by two participants. Both participants reported to have seen great results with the cap restoration and found the steps easy to follow.
  • 11. 11| THE NEXT STEPS The final steps are what can be seen for the future of the cap restoration guide and what steps will be taken to address the usability feedback. Grammatical errors will be reviewed and amended on the guide itself. The understanding of this comes down to future readers and the benefits in providing a clear and concise guide with minimal error. It is noted that some mark ups and bullet points were unnecessarily placed and coloured. These will be removed and coloured bullet points corrected to not confused future readers. Photos will be reshot to ensure clear visuals of items and their portrayed use. The intention is to address these immediately to commence online publishing for the public.
  • 12. 12| CONCLUSION The overall results of the usability test and the feedback provided was successful. The feedback was needed to ensure the guide is appealing, well written and establishes the intended results. The cap restoration guide will need a few further amendments as not all caps will benefit from the instructions.
