Introduction
University of Lagos Students Assembly (U.S.A) began the 2016/17 session activities with a
formal interview, conducted for prospective executive members. An orientation program on
U.S.A projects and team management training took place the same day. New project
initiatives were introduced during the 2016/17 session which received meaningful
feedbacks.
U.S.A executive circle for 2016/17 session composed of 8 members with a team of project
advisers from various faculties, who were oriented to serve as U.S.A non-executive
members. U.S.A members participated in a ‘walk for sight campaign’ for children with eye
diseases Lagos State during the 1st semester period. Great interest in U.S.A projects were
shown by executive members like Badejo Adeshina based on records from assessment form
and outstanding playing of executive role.
Notable among U.S.A projects initiatives this session were #Meet_usa social media
Campaign, Hero Badge Awards and Unilag Tour Project. Dress well campaign, an established
every session project, was carried out with the production of a 3D visual image of campaign
signboard proposed for placement on campus.
U.S.A project challenges are not hidden. Access to financial resources and workability of
money making strategies pose challenges to project sustainability. Commitment of
members to optimizing designated roles, executive and non executive roles, help enhance
U.S.A operations on campus.
The Students Assembly enjoy project consulting services from Telepse Company, a Nigerian
based media and consulting firm. This was achieved as a result of the solicit by Assembly
Mentors (Alumni) to help train U.S.A members and package project initiatives/materials in
order to optimize money making strategies. The contribution of Telepse Company helped
U.S.A pass its test of continuity and introduce new project initiatives.

Interview, Orientation and Training of New Members
Unilag Students Assembly (U.S.A) conducted an interview, general orientation and training
for new members, 4th Feb., 2017. It took place at the faculty of Sciences (R024) on campus.
U.S.A method of accepting new members and choosing executives is guided by its
constitutional continuity plan approved by the school. Interested students filled
membership forms online. Interview and assessment for executive roles were carried out by
Oladoyin Zainab (Human Resource Person) with a representative from U.S.A Alumni and a
former executive.
Orientation on U.S.A projects for all applicants was carried out by the founder- Oladeji
Taiwo. Money making project strategies and team management tips were shared. The
Interview/Orientation/Training was sponsored by Telepse Company.
The induction of 2016/17 executive members took place 2 weeks after the interview. Letters
of appointment were given to these members with acknowledgement copies received.

2016/17 Registration Renewal Process
The club registration renewal with the Students’ Affairs Division in school for 2016/17
session was carried out successfully, by the Unilag Students’ Assembly (U.S.A) executive
team. However, payment for the renewal was contributed with the help of Farouq Tackie-
an alumni member, Ebuka Maduekwe- an executive member and Badejo Adeshina who was
also an executive member.
Delay in the registration renewal process can be attributed to lack of available funds to
offset the cost and delays in acquiring necessary registration renewal documents. The U.S.A
project report for 2015/16 session activities was a necessary document composed and
prepared Oladeji Taiwo a former executive member. Other necessary moves were made
possible by the executive team.
Sustaining U.S.A Career Census Project
Career Census Project is the survey project carried out by Unilag Students Assembly (U.S.A)
to find out what skills they wish to be trained in at the Career Development Event later
organized by U.S.A as response to the survey results. The project was carried out during
2013/14 session.
Img 06: U.S.A Career Census Enumeration Form given to Students
Sustaining Career Census Project involves continuity in the response to the survey results
explained above through training events, referral to mentors and career excursions. It also
involves re-running of the survey exercise for new students in an interval of 4 years, at most.
2016/17 session marks three years of responding to the first survey results. Re-running of
the project was proposed for this session as a way of sustaining the project.

Dress Well Campaign
Dress Well Campaign is an every session U.S.A project that propagates a distraction-free
learning environment through the ‘Always Dress Well’ campaign message to students. This
session, the campaign kicked off with the design a proposed campaign sign board to be
placed at the entrance of New Hall on campus. Previous campaigns were achieved through
social media, prints, random engagements with students on campus and other publication.

The campaign project is endorsed by the University Counseling Unit of the Students Affairs
Division. The aim is to reduce appearance related distractions from hostels to lecture rooms.
The reason for the signboard placement at the New Hall entrance can be highlighted as:
i. Proximity to undergraduate students’ hostels ensures that the Dress Well
message is seen and received on the signboard as students set out for lectures.
ii. Proximity to the road ensures visibility of signboard to the students going into
campus.
iii. To promote the good name of the school with the signboard message, as New
Hall is often regarded as the centre of the school.
2nd
Career Census (Project Re-run)
Re run of U.S.A career census project for new students from 100-300 level did not hold. This
was due to the postponement of the project to 2017/18 session for 100-400 level students.
This move can be considered cost effective.
The 1st career census project was successfully executed during the 2013/14 session for 100-
300 level students who have either graduated or in their final year this session. The census
enrolled over 3000 students.
Career census beneficiaries receive trainings, referrals to mentors and notifications on
career opportunities based on the census records. A major career training event was
organized for students who enrolled in the 1st census before any of them graduated from
the school.
All Class Governors’ Forum
The forum of all class governors is an every session event organized by U.S.A. This session,
the event did not hold due to the U.S.A Dress Well project which can be said to be ongoing
throughout the session.
Based on records, the U.S.A executive in charge of the event (Head of Class Governor
Executives) never fulfilled the task to update contact records of class governors, call for
planning or report to the Alumni for mentorship.
Updating the contact records requires the help of faculty representatives who are regarded
as governor executives. The call for planning was later achieved by the assistant secretary
with the interference of the Alumni. The plan to organize a smaller gathering of class
governors in lecture halls did not manifest due to outdated contacts of class governors.

U.S.A Activities
Participation in Walk for Sight Campaign
University of Lagos Students’ Assembly (U.S.A) members participated in a walk for sight
campaign that held in Lekki, Lagos, 18th March 2017. It was organized by Eyemasters NG, a
Nigerian based eye clinic with branches across the country. The 45 minutes campaign walk
was targeted at creating awareness for eye diseases rampant among children and their
detective measures. Popular actress- Annie Idibia and other notable people took part in the
walk.
The participation of U.S.A in the campaign project helped with student volunteers and
publicity on social media. Participants wore the campaign shirts and head dress while the
walk took place along the road with the use of a public address system to enlighten
residents and passersby. Certificates were given at the end of the campaign event.
This event marked the first activity U.S.A members engaged in after their orientation, this
session. No executive member was present except representatives from Alumni and non
executive circle.

publicity graphic artworks and running online campaigns. The firm currently co-manages
U.S.A social media accounts.

General Report
The generality of University of Lagos Students’ Assembly (U.S.A) project achievements
during the 2016/17 session shows its capability for continuity and project delivery. Over the
years, U.S.A has established itself as a society of project minded members with objectives to
report about at the end of every academic session.
Based on the project report, U.S.A excelled well in the introduction of new projects like
Unilag Tour Project and Hero Badge Awards, but fairly performed in the delivery of 2017
calendar projects. New projects are proposed, introduced and carried out for inclusion in
the U.S.A calendar project the subsequent year.
Good progress was made with U.S.A Dress Well Campaign Project with the graphical
illustration of the campaign signboard proposed for placement on campus. The general
performance level of members, both executives and project advisers this session can be
assessed based on the fair delivery of the calendar projects like ‘All Class Governors Forum’
while the ‘U.S.A Career Census Project’ was postponed. The performance level reveals the
need for members to be better committed.
Telepse Company officially consults for the Students Assembly, to develop members via
trainings and help members with the production of project proposals or presentations for
sponsorship. Telepse consultation service is targeted at optimizing U.S.A money making
strategies and ensuring project delivery.
Social media feedbacks on the Unilag Tour Project and Hero Badge Awards introduced this
session shows a good level of necessity to develop and include these projects on the 2018
U.S.A calendar.
Support U.S.A
The Unilag Students Assembly (U.S.A) hereby asks the general public, private/public bodies
and individuals for support on its projects. This will better enable the continuity of U.S.A
societal essence, thereby empowering students’ potentials.
Financial support can be paid directly into U.S.A bank account. Other means of showing
support include; sharing our message, recommend for sponsorship, recommend for
membership and through participation on social media.

continuity and introduction of new project initiatives. The role of Telepse Company as U.S.A
project consultant is set to better explore money making strategies in the subsequent
sessions.
The Students Assembly successfully established itself as a societal club in the 2013/14
session. The 2014/15 session marked huge success with project delivery and endorsements
while the 2015/16 session can be reported with the success of project sustainability. It tells
that U.S.A is here to operate and continue.

  • 7. University of Lagos Students Assembly (U.S.A) Report 2016/17 Session 7 Introduction University of Lagos Students Assembly (U.S.A) began the 2016/17 session activities with a formal interview, conducted for prospective executive members. An orientation program on U.S.A projects and team management training took place the same day. New project initiatives were introduced during the 2016/17 session which received meaningful feedbacks. U.S.A executive circle for 2016/17 session composed of 8 members with a team of project advisers from various faculties, who were oriented to serve as U.S.A non-executive members. U.S.A members participated in a ‘walk for sight campaign’ for children with eye diseases Lagos State during the 1st semester period. Great interest in U.S.A projects were shown by executive members like Badejo Adeshina based on records from assessment form and outstanding playing of executive role. Notable among U.S.A projects initiatives this session were #Meet_usa social media Campaign, Hero Badge Awards and Unilag Tour Project. Dress well campaign, an established every session project, was carried out with the production of a 3D visual image of campaign signboard proposed for placement on campus. U.S.A project challenges are not hidden. Access to financial resources and workability of money making strategies pose challenges to project sustainability. Commitment of members to optimizing designated roles, executive and non executive roles, help enhance U.S.A operations on campus. The Students Assembly enjoy project consulting services from Telepse Company, a Nigerian based media and consulting firm. This was achieved as a result of the solicit by Assembly Mentors (Alumni) to help train U.S.A members and package project initiatives/materials in order to optimize money making strategies. The contribution of Telepse Company helped U.S.A pass its test of continuity and introduce new project initiatives.

  • 9. University of Lagos Students Assembly (U.S.A) Report 2016/17 Session 9 2016/17 Registration Renewal Process The club registration renewal with the Students’ Affairs Division in school for 2016/17 session was carried out successfully, by the Unilag Students’ Assembly (U.S.A) executive team. However, payment for the renewal was contributed with the help of Farouq Tackie- an alumni member, Ebuka Maduekwe- an executive member and Badejo Adeshina who was also an executive member. Delay in the registration renewal process can be attributed to lack of available funds to offset the cost and delays in acquiring necessary registration renewal documents. The U.S.A project report for 2015/16 session activities was a necessary document composed and prepared Oladeji Taiwo a former executive member. Other necessary moves were made possible by the executive team. Sustaining U.S.A Career Census Project Career Census Project is the survey project carried out by Unilag Students Assembly (U.S.A) to find out what skills they wish to be trained in at the Career Development Event later organized by U.S.A as response to the survey results. The project was carried out during 2013/14 session. Img 06: U.S.A Career Census Enumeration Form given to Students Sustaining Career Census Project involves continuity in the response to the survey results explained above through training events, referral to mentors and career excursions. It also involves re-running of the survey exercise for new students in an interval of 4 years, at most. 2016/17 session marks three years of responding to the first survey results. Re-running of the project was proposed for this session as a way of sustaining the project.
  • 10. University of Lagos Students Assembly (U.S.A) Report 2016/17 Session 10 2017 Calendar Activity Report Dress Well Campaign Dress Well Campaign is an every session U.S.A project that propagates a distraction-free learning environment through the ‘Always Dress Well’ campaign message to students. This session, the campaign kicked off with the design a proposed campaign sign board to be placed at the entrance of New Hall on campus. Previous campaigns were achieved through social media, prints, random engagements with students on campus and other publication. Img 7: Proposed Signboard Placement at New Hall entrance on campus U.S.A U.S.A Img 8: Always Dress Well Campaign Signboard Design Proposed for Placement on campus
  • 11. University of Lagos Students Assembly (U.S.A) Report 2016/17 Session 11 The campaign project is endorsed by the University Counseling Unit of the Students Affairs Division. The aim is to reduce appearance related distractions from hostels to lecture rooms. The reason for the signboard placement at the New Hall entrance can be highlighted as: i. Proximity to undergraduate students’ hostels ensures that the Dress Well message is seen and received on the signboard as students set out for lectures. ii. Proximity to the road ensures visibility of signboard to the students going into campus. iii. To promote the good name of the school with the signboard message, as New Hall is often regarded as the centre of the school. 2nd Career Census (Project Re-run) Re run of U.S.A career census project for new students from 100-300 level did not hold. This was due to the postponement of the project to 2017/18 session for 100-400 level students. This move can be considered cost effective. The 1st career census project was successfully executed during the 2013/14 session for 100- 300 level students who have either graduated or in their final year this session. The census enrolled over 3000 students. Career census beneficiaries receive trainings, referrals to mentors and notifications on career opportunities based on the census records. A major career training event was organized for students who enrolled in the 1st census before any of them graduated from the school. All Class Governors’ Forum The forum of all class governors is an every session event organized by U.S.A. This session, the event did not hold due to the U.S.A Dress Well project which can be said to be ongoing throughout the session. Based on records, the U.S.A executive in charge of the event (Head of Class Governor Executives) never fulfilled the task to update contact records of class governors, call for planning or report to the Alumni for mentorship. Updating the contact records requires the help of faculty representatives who are regarded as governor executives. The call for planning was later achieved by the assistant secretary with the interference of the Alumni. The plan to organize a smaller gathering of class governors in lecture halls did not manifest due to outdated contacts of class governors.

  • 17. University of Lagos Students Assembly (U.S.A) Report 2016/17 Session 17 General Report The generality of University of Lagos Students’ Assembly (U.S.A) project achievements during the 2016/17 session shows its capability for continuity and project delivery. Over the years, U.S.A has established itself as a society of project minded members with objectives to report about at the end of every academic session. Based on the project report, U.S.A excelled well in the introduction of new projects like Unilag Tour Project and Hero Badge Awards, but fairly performed in the delivery of 2017 calendar projects. New projects are proposed, introduced and carried out for inclusion in the U.S.A calendar project the subsequent year. Good progress was made with U.S.A Dress Well Campaign Project with the graphical illustration of the campaign signboard proposed for placement on campus. The general performance level of members, both executives and project advisers this session can be assessed based on the fair delivery of the calendar projects like ‘All Class Governors Forum’ while the ‘U.S.A Career Census Project’ was postponed.
