Course Description
This is a required course for graduation. U.S. History covers the history of America from
pre-Colonial America to the present. It is a chronological survey of events and social
changes with emphasis placed on foreign relations and economics of each period. The
relevance of historical events to the present U.S. and international situation is also
stressed and frequently explored (“Why do we need to know this…?).

Damaged or unreturned textbooks will result in a fine and/or delay of transcripts and
diplomas.
Grades will determined on a straight A= 90%-100%
points scale based on tests, quizzes, B= 80%-89%
homework, and participation. All late C= 70%-79%
unexcused, work will be penalized. D= 60%-69%
F= Below 60%
Regular attendance is stressed due to test materials heavy reliance on class discussions,
activities, and lecture. Excessive tardiness will be penalized through use of detentions
and/or reduction of grade.
