• 1.Hello, my name is Tasya. In this essay I would like to
express admiration and respect for children and
students from Moldova who participated in cleaning,
planting flowers, helping people with special needs and
etc. I know that there are many ecological problems in
the whole world. That’s why children from Moldova are
trying to resolve them with the help of the adults. I was
interested with this theme, that’s why I looked some
videos on the IEARN-MOLDOVA web site and was
surprised how much work children from different parts
of Moldova have done. I watched many videos but three
of them impressed most of all. The first video was about
children from the lyceum «Vasile Alecsandri» from
Calarasi. In their video they told how they were cleaning
their central park. They all were like a big family and
they together cleaned their park from litter and now it is
clean and people with great pleasure walk there. On the
second video children from the lyceum «Lucian Blaga»
from Iargara were planting flowers, now their city is
more beautiful and their school too. People can smell
flowers and admire their beauty. The third video was my
favourite because students from Vulcanesti helped
people with special needs and said that their goal is to
remind everyone that we need to help those people
who are not as lucky and happy as we are. They said
that they want to remind everyone that we have no
differences, we are equal in spite of any disabilities. I like
and respect these words. All children and students made
a great job and I respect this and I want to believe that
all people would respect nature and other people how
these children and students do.

• 2. I watched all the videos on the site. Three
of them impressed me the most. The first
video “We can change the world” is made by
guys from Anenii Noi. They told and showed
us what is the GYSD and showed that they
are not indifferent to what is happening in
the world. Students cleaned up streets of
their town and they are good fellows. The
second video I watched was “We have no
differences” from students from Onesti. They
made a very inspiring video and supported
kids with disabilities. Guys from Onesti did a
great job and produced a good result. And
the last video is called “Peace and tolerance”.
This video is from students from Edinet who
showed us the value of peace and tolerance.
Guys made a very entertaining video. The
most interesting part of the video is a social
survey. Guys fellows that have done such a
great job.
• I am very happy that our country is not
indifferent to problems that guys showed us-
global problems. And we will strive to at least
slightly change our world.

Our impressions and thoughts after
watching videos.
• 3. I have watched all the Global Youth Service Day videos. But
most of all I was impressed by 3 of them.
• Students from „Vasile Alecsandri”, Calarasi decided to go out
with rakes, brooms and gloves to clean up the central park of
their town. They raked the dry leaves and tree branches,
swept the alleys, picked up the papers, bottles and plastic
bags. I think it is very important to clean the earth of trash
that can’t decompose for a long time. Thus they really
helped in this regard.
• The second video is made by Students from Vulcanesti “We
have no differences”. In my opinion it is a very serious
problem that the majority of people prefer not seeing those
people who weren’t as lucky as we were and they can’t enjoy
life as they would like to. This event made them happier.
They enjoyed the communication and playing games with
other children. It was wonderful.
• And the last but not the least one is a video from Edinet
about the value of Peace and Tolerance. This guys did a very
hard work. Their project consisted of 3 parts. Each of the
parts was very interesting and instructive. Personally I liked
the interview (some of the people's responses were nice)
and the video about how different but equal we are. I think it
is a very good idea to hold that kind of trainings for children.
• Generally, I think that all the students who participated in
this project have done a very important and significant work
and made this world a little better.

• 4. The problem of the environment is currently very important,
especially in our country. Polluted rivers and nature are the
factors that directly affect the health and quality of life of the
population of Moldova, based on this, I chose 3 videos that
deal with these problems in our country. The first video "The
future of our planet is in our hands" was very impressive and
pleased me. I saw how the students worked hard and fulfilled
their goal responsibly. They really did a very good job and
cleaned up all the trash that was on the contaminated areas
thus making the nature cleaner. In addition, they made a lot of
posters in support of this project, and gave a lot of effort to
attract people to the problems of the environment. The second
video - " Access or pollution?" I liked how the students
creatively approached the creation of this video, they made a
humorous mini-scene, which affects a serious problem of our
country - a huge amount of garbage in our rivers. In addition,
the students contributed to the cleaning nature of Moldova
and removed all the trash, bottles, packages etc. from the
river.
• The last video I chose is " Make this world a better place! ". The
students in this video explain in detail the environmental
situation and the consequences of environmental pollution. In
their video, they urged people to take care of nature and
rivers, because if we do not pay enough attention to this issue,
soon there will be no rivers and forests. In conclusion, I can say
that this project helps people to make the world better and
cleaner and makes us think about the problems of our time.

answered them. Here are our answers.
• 1. What did you do with the collected litter?
• We called to a special service which is responsible for
cleaning the city to take away our garbage. We couldn’t
do it by ourselves because to order a special lorry costs
more than 5 000 lei but we didn’t have such money.

reduced? What can you do for this?
• We can spread the information about
all cases in our social media, we can
organize special class meetings to
discuss this problem. But to tell you
the truth, we don’t think that this
problem is very sharp in Moldova. For
example, at our school and in our
families we don’t feel it.
• 3. What emotions did you feel when
developing the first concert for the
children from the orphanage?
• Our school started to organize such
concerts about 30 years ago.
Personally we always feel very excited
because the children wait for us. And
we hope our concerts make them a
little happier and give them
opportunity to be just merry children.

How do we save the world by participating in

• The 4th task of the US goals is Quality of
education. We consider that clever and

to develop ourselves. Also we take part in
different conferences where communicating
with students from different schools we discuss
and try to resolve many of environmental or
ecological problems.
• 5. What are your future project ideas?
• Being the members of the ecological club
“Neos” we are going to organize and participate
in different projects and events. Also we have
partnership with the youth organization “Tineri
iubesc Moldova” and take part in their
volunteering actions. We continue to work on
the “Virtual Masters” project in order to help
the shelter for stray animals.

• Yes, we think we really did a lot, we learnt a
lot, we were very inspired by all the work that
other students do.
• 7. How long have you done environmental
projects?
• Our school as far as we remember organize
such kind of events every year. We started to
participate in them when we came to the
secondary school in the 5th form. If you ask
about the events we organized this year
during this project it took about 1-2 week
each to organize and to complete them.
• 8. How long do you collaborate with
Japanese students?
• Last year we took part in Peace crane action
organized by Japanize students. We send
them the photos made during the event and
they thanked us and post them in their school
site.

• The English teacher showed us the video “We

project. We were inspired by the idea that we
could do really something useful for people
and our country, we would make friends and

• After very “hot” discussion the team “Smile” chose the

• 1. “Hai Moldova, Hai Cuizuca”. Our partners have done
a great job. They organized 2 events. Both of them are
very interesting and useful, but we liked the first video
about the Charity Fair a little more.
• 2. “Eagles” We like how the video is made. It’ s funny
and music is cool.

    Our letter topartners • Hello dear friends, • The team “Smile” discussed all your questions and answered them. Here are our answers. • 1. What did you do with the collected litter? • We called to a special service which is responsible for cleaning the city to take away our garbage. We couldn’t do it by ourselves because to order a special lorry costs more than 5 000 lei but we didn’t have such money.

What can you do for this? • We can spread the information about all cases in our social media, we can organize special class meetings to discuss this problem. But to tell you the truth, we don’t think that this problem is very sharp in Moldova. For example, at our school and in our families we don’t feel it. • 3. What emotions did you feel when developing the first concert for the children from the orphanage? • Our school started to organize such concerts about 30 years ago. Personally we always feel very excited because the children wait for us. And we hope our concerts make them a little happier and give them opportunity to be just merry children.

    Our letter topartners • 4. You wrote in your book that we can save the world by participating in various Olympiads. How do we save the world by participating in the Olympiads? What effect do the Olympiads have in saving the world? • The 4th task of the US goals is Quality of education. We consider that clever and educated people will save the world, so we try to develop ourselves. Also we take part in different conferences where communicating with students from different schools we discuss and try to resolve many of environmental or ecological problems. • 5. What are your future project ideas? • Being the members of the ecological club “Neos” we are going to organize and participate in different projects and events. Also we have partnership with the youth organization “Tineri iubesc Moldova” and take part in their volunteering actions. We continue to work on the “Virtual Masters” project in order to help the shelter for stray animals.

Were you pleased with the results of your projects? • Yes, we think we really did a lot, we learnt a lot, we were very inspired by all the work that other students do. • 7. How long have you done environmental projects? • Our school as far as we remember organize such kind of events every year. We started to participate in them when we came to the secondary school in the 5th form. If you ask about the events we organized this year during this project it took about 1-2 week each to organize and to complete them. • 8. How long do you collaborate with Japanese students? • Last year we took part in Peace crane action organized by Japanize students. We send them the photos made during the event and they thanked us and post them in their school site.

    Our letter topartners • 9. What inspired you in this project? • The English teacher showed us the video “We are the people” and told a little about this project. We were inspired by the idea that we could do really something useful for people and our country, we would make friends and learnt about other schools and students and the possibility to practice English and get some good marks also was motivation. • 10. How do you spend your leisure time? • We wrote about it in our first letters. Have you read them? • We have different preferences. Some of us practice sports and dancing, others learn foreign languages, draw or play computer games, a lot of us are fans of Korean doramas and K-pop (girls, of cause) or anime but all of us are ready to take part in events that make the world better. • Teddy –bear project with students from Taiwan

    Our opinion aboutvideos • After very “hot” discussion the team “Smile” chose the best videos. • 1. “Hai Moldova, Hai Cuizuca”. Our partners have done a great job. They organized 2 events. Both of them are very interesting and useful, but we liked the first video about the Charity Fair a little more. • 2. “Eagles” We like how the video is made. It’ s funny and music is cool. • 3. “Green Angels” The scenes what we should do if want to make the world better impressed us very much.
