Franchisors and service providers in New Zealand remain optimistic about general business conditions and franchisor growth prospects for 2017 according to a quarterly survey. While franchisors were positive about franchisee profitability and sales, they expressed concern about rising operating costs and access to financing. The greatest challenges to franchise development in 2017 were identified as finding suitable franchisees, staff, and containing ongoing franchisee costs.
The document describes the Little-Man Computer paradigm, a conceptual model for teaching computer architecture. It explains that the Little-Man Computer consists of a room with locations to store instructions and data, an input tray, output tray, and calculator. The Little Man's job is to read instructions from the locations one by one and execute them by moving data between the calculator and locations. This provides an easy way to understand the fetch-decode-execute cycle that real computers use. An example program is shown being executed step-by-step to subtract two numbers and output the result.
The document discusses how operating systems manage multiple processes running simultaneously. It explains that the processor manager is made up of a process scheduler and job scheduler. The job scheduler takes groups of processes (called jobs) and reorders them to balance CPU-intensive and I/O-intensive processes. It then passes the processes to the process scheduler. The process scheduler rapidly switches the CPU between processes, setting their status as ready, running, waiting, or finished depending on whether they are awaiting input/output or currently using the CPU.
The document discusses several key process scheduling policies and algorithms:
1. Maximum throughput, minimize response time, and other policies aim to optimize different performance metrics like job completion time.
2. Common scheduling algorithms include first come first served (FCFS), shortest job next (SJN), priority scheduling, round robin, and multilevel queues. Each has advantages for different workload types.
3. The document also covers process synchronization challenges like deadlock and livelock that can occur when processes contend for shared resources in certain ordering. Methods to avoid or recover from such issues are important for system design.

The document provides tips for presenting an effective webinar. It recommends choosing clear learning objectives and focusing on meaningful content. Webinars should be broken into 10-15 minute segments to maintain attention. Presenters should speak to slides rather than read them and use activities, polls and personal stories to engage participants. Audience feedback indicates a preference for practical takeaways, real-time Q&A and multitasking. Common pet peeves include excessive housekeeping, biography and introduction time rather than focusing on the topic. Thorough preparation, practice and authentic delivery are emphasized.

This document discusses Ukraine's tax reform efforts to support economic development. Key measures of the 2014 tax reform focused on increasing budget revenues through expanding excise taxes and property taxes. Rates for corporate and personal income taxes were also increased. However, the reform also aimed to enhance entrepreneurship by reducing some tax benefits and making the tax system more transparent and efficient to improve the business climate. Overall, the tax changes helped address fiscal consolidation but further reforms are still needed to minimize taxes' negative impact on growth and bring more business out of the shadow economy.
Forecast of development of ukrainian economy in 2017Anatoliy Amelin
The Ukrainian economy showed moderate growth in 2016, with GDP expected to increase 1.1% for the year. Inflation eased to an expected 12% for 2016. Exports stagnated due to relatively low commodity prices. Imports of goods continued to decline, while investment imports increased, signaling positive trends. However, exports declined faster than imports, resulting in a negative trade balance that is expected to widen to $4.9 billion, or 5% of GDP. Overall the recovery remains weak, with investment and domestic demand still low. Continued reforms are needed to strengthen energy independence and improve competitiveness.
1. Ukraine's economy has been recovering well, with real GDP growth of 3.3% in 2018, driven by strong consumer demand and increasing investments.
2. Key reforms have supported Ukraine's economic recovery and established irreversible steps toward change, while fiscal consolidation has helped prudent debt management.
3. Continued support from economic partners has also contributed to Ukraine's solid economic recovery track over recent years.
1. Ukraine's economy has experienced solid recovery in recent years, with real GDP growth accelerating to 3.3% in 2018. Private consumption has been the key driver of growth.
2. Reforms have supported economic recovery and Ukraine has taken steps to diversify its trade partners, with the EU becoming its largest trading partner. Exports of goods like machinery and metals increased substantially in 2018.

While the other post-communist countries undertook an effort to meet these expectations, the Ukrainian health system remained virtually unchanged throughout the entire period after the collapse of the Soviet Union. Any changes that were applied were actually apparent and inferior, including when talking about the Ukrainian cancer care system.
2006-2010 Children’s Oncology State Program launched the first ever child-centered separated state program, which full-fledged execution was postponed to 2008. 2010-2016 Oncology National Program faced a considerable funding reduction.
National Cancer Control Strategy was a long-awaited strategic policy since the completion of the previous one in 2016. After a lasting period of negotiation and alignment, the Strategy was a couple of steps from approval, yet the war had started.
The Ukrainian cancer care system evolved very slowly, without the government's significant public interest or strategic focus until 2015-16.
Only at that time did real and practical plans for reforming the health care system begin to mature, when public interest in participating in restructuring state functions and institutions increased significantly.
The global burden of cancer is growing worldwide, with 12.1 million (mln) new cancer cases and 7.1 mln deaths from cancer in 2020 (Source: GLOBOCAN, 2022). 36% of the new cases and 28 % of the deaths occurred in Europe.
Incidence trends for all kinds of cancer have continued to rise in many European countries, although at a slower pace in recent years. Ukraine is classified within the lower-middle-income (LMIC) group and had a population of 44 mln people in 2018.
The cancer incidence rate is distributed unevenly among different population categories in Ukraine. Females are more often diagnosed with cancer than males, and morbidity rates of oncological diseases among urban populations prevail over rural ones.
The cancer care system in Ukraine, inseparable from the general health care system, remained virtually unchanged throughout the entire period after gaining independence in 1991. Yet, healthcare financing reform, launched in 2017, brought positive changes that introduced a diagnosis-related groups-based funding system, set up a strategic purchaser and gave hospitals managerial autonomy to cancer care delivery in 2020.
The care provided for patients with oncological diseases requires a multi-dimensional approach, i.e., different means and methods should be applied at both population and individual levels. These levels are applied sequentially, starting from primary prevention, early detection and screening, diagnostic evaluation, primary, neo-adjuvant and adjuvant treatment, follow-up care, treatment of recurrent cancer, and ending with palliative care and end-of-life care, which are often combined in one.
The burden of cancer is distributed unevenly among the regions of Ukraine. In 2021, Dnipro, Kharkiv, and Lviv regions and Kyiv city had the highest rates of oncological diseases (more than 7,000), while Chernivtsi, Luhansk, and Volyn regions represented the lowest incidence rate, with less than 3,000 new patients with cancer.
The heterogeneity of the incidence rate of cancer could be partly explained by the regional characteristics of the incidence of COVID-19 and the respective change in access to the treatment and detection settings. However, the different levels of medical personnel competence, the presence of modern equipment, and the development of the infrastructure are factors that primarily affect the uneven distribution of the oncology burden among regions of Ukraine.
