The UNODC-WCO Container Control Programme works to establish Container Profiling Units to identify high-risk containers using risk indicators from cargo manifests and customs declarations. The programme provides training to improve profiling abilities and raises awareness about facilitating legal trade. Over 500 million containers are transported each year, but less than 2% are inspected, so the programme aims to better identify risks.

• Six of the international legal instruments TPB is
mandated by the UNGA to promote deal with
chemical, biological, radiological and/or nuclear
(CBRN) terrorism:
– 1980 Convention on the Physical Protection of Nuclear Material
– 1997 International Convention for the Suppression of Terrorist
Bombings
– 2005International Convention for the Suppression of Acts of
Nuclear Terrorism
– 2005 Amendment to the Convention on the Physical Protection
of Nuclear Material (not yet in force)
– 2005 Protocol to the Convention for the Suppression of
Unlawful Acts against the Safety of Maritime Navigation
