Universal design is an approach to designing products and environments to be usable by all people without needing adaptation or specialized design. It can be applied to any product or environment. Universal design is a process that involves identifying the intended users, defining guidelines and standards, involving intended users in providing feedback, applying the guidelines, planning for accommodations, providing training and support, and evaluating the design. When applied to education, universal design focuses on engaging all students and understanding how each student learns best by reducing disability barriers in curriculum.
