The document outlines 7 steps for unit testing: 1) determine what to test, 2) prepare test projects, 3) pick simple scenarios to test, 4) identify dependencies, 5) simplify code design for testing, 6) write tests using arrange-act-assert, and 7) continue testing additional scenarios. The goal is to introduce unit testing and provide guidance on setting up tests, writing test cases, and refactoring code for testability.
Usability testing is the easiest, cheapest way to know how users are interacting with your website or app. Users can view an existing site to see where it can improve or get a sneak peek at something in progress and discover where it is falling short. Usability testing can be performed on mobile devices, applications, remotely, or on the sidewalk in front of your office. In short, usability testing is extremely flexible. During this talk we will share our experiences with usability testing and arm you with techniques that you can take away and try on your own. We'll also discuss the pop-up lab we hosted on usability testing in October 2014 and how the concept might benefit your organization. Usability testing is a tool you should have in your toolbox.

Being a software professional means understanding how we develop or test impacts the bottom line.
In this talk, directed mostly for developers, I take a look how different testing activities impact the business, and how professional testers apply these principles.
An Introduction to Agile User Research and Testing #MW2015Liz Filardi
What do your visitors really want in a digital product? How do you know whether your product is intuitive to use? What do you do when stakeholder expectations differ from visitor needs? Led by a Producer and a Researcher, this half-day workshop is intended to help you answer these questions with confidence using tools that you can rapidly employ and learn from.
We will share methods for developing research tools, gathering data, and making the most of findings to inform your approach at key milestones in the production of apps, digital games, and websites. We will provide anecdotes from our own experiences to illustrate how these methods can pan out in the wild.
Participants will learn about research strategies including:
– Card Sorting- hone in on priorities and preferences
– User Testing- evaluate the response to your designs
– Surveys and Interviews- ask the right questions of the right people
– Observations- know what to watch for, and how to record what you see
Participants will work in small teams to identify a challenge of their own, strategically choose a research method, and adapt and test their instruments. Each participant will leave with tools and strategies that they can use to gather feedback for an informed and iterative design process.
This workshop is for producers, project managers, educators, designers, and developers involved in developing digital experiences.

The classic ALM helped us with the execution part when we understood the requirements.
In a world of uncertainty, when the requirement are merely assumptions. we need better management tools and processes, to support learning.
Zen and the art of Test Maintenance - #TestIL Meetup Tel AvivGil Zilberfeld
Nobody likes it. Everyone has to do it: Maintenance for code and tests. In this presentation we go over a strategy for taking care of our tests, and how to fix the bad ones.
In this session, we’ll write tests and code for solving a real Star Wars problem. And we’ll discuss what we’re doing, refine our specs, as well as see what changes in the design tell us.

Slides from a 5/10/2017 talk at the Nasdaq Entrepreneurial Center (@theCenter) about a lean research mindset, the mechanics of learning from users, and the structure of a research prototype test session.
When you're going to introduce a new process to your team, like unit testing, it's going to be hard. Developers have their own experiences, opinions and even objections (gasp!).
This webinar slides are about what to expect, and how to deal with them. And the developers too.
Dependency injection and Why It Matters to TestersGil Zilberfeld
Gil Zilberfeld talks about the dependency injection principle and how it affects testability. He then goes on to discuss how code is too important to leave to developers and testers should be part of the design and coding process.
What makes user stories effective in agile projects? This session goes through the reason we use user stories, tips and tricks and about slicing stories and story mapping.
Generating a custom Ruby SDK for your web service or Rails API using Smithyg2nightmarescribd
Have you ever wanted a Ruby client API to communicate with your web service? Smithy is a protocol-agnostic language for defining services and SDKs. Smithy Ruby is an implementation of Smithy that generates a Ruby SDK using a Smithy model. In this talk, we will explore Smithy and Smithy Ruby to learn how to generate custom feature-rich SDKs that can communicate with any web service, such as a Rails JSON API.

Connector Corner: Automate dynamic content and events by pushing a buttonDianaGray10
Here is something new! In our next Connector Corner webinar, we will demonstrate how you can use a single workflow to:
Create a campaign using Mailchimp with merge tags/fields
Send an interactive Slack channel message (using buttons)
Have the message received by managers and peers along with a test email for review
But there’s more:
In a second workflow supporting the same use case, you’ll see:
Your campaign sent to target colleagues for approval
If the “Approve” button is clicked, a Jira/Zendesk ticket is created for the marketing design team
But—if the “Reject” button is pushed, colleagues will be alerted via Slack message
Join us to learn more about this new, human-in-the-loop capability, brought to you by Integration Service connectors.

1. Unit Testing – The Prequel
Gil Zilberfeld, Product Manager
Jan 29th, 2013
@gil_zilberfeld
2. Prepare
• Know your tools
• Evaluate the risk
• Choose your partner
@gil_zilberfeld
3. Step 1: What to test
• What to test:
• What you’re
working on
• Bug or feature?
• Logic
• What not to test:
• Multithreading
• Stored procedures
• UI
@gil_zilberfeld
4. Step 2: Get ready
• Pick organization strategy
• Create test projects
• Remove fluff
• VS I’m looking at you
@gil_zilberfeld
5. Step 3: Pick a scenario
• Scenario:
• Context
• Action
• Success criteria
• Pick the simplest
one
• Say it!
• Name it!
• Assert it!
@gil_zilberfeld
12. Step 5: Simplify design
• Automatic refactoring
• Close down regions you’re not going to cover
• Rename fields
• Extract methods
• Manual refactoring works too
• …but more risky
@gil_zilberfeld
13. Step 6: Here we go!
• Arrange
Run
Fail
• Arrange
Run
Fail
…..
• Success!
@gil_zilberfeld
14. Step 7: Next!
• Pick the next
scenario
• Say it
• Name it
• Assert it
• Mutate the test
setup
• Arrange
Run
Fail
…
• Win!
@gil_zilberfeld
15. Congratulations!
• This is just the beginning
• Lifetime improvement
• Picking scenarios
• Naming
• Mocking
• Refactoring
• … and much more!
