• Developed by Dallas Semiconductor Corp. in 1989.
• Introduced at JavaOne Conference.
• Tested at Celebration School, just outside Orlando.
 Contains iButton, memory can be read or written by Blue-
Dot Receptor.
 Memory maintained in NVRAM by Lithium Energy supply.
 Manufactured with 8-byte serial number.

JAVA CARD APPLET MODEL
 Client-Server Architecture
 Network protocol encapsulated in packets called APDU’s.
 APDU’s decoded.
 4 applet methods are: process, install, select & deselect.

Touch iButton to a Blue-Dot receptor connected to
a PC cabled to a 1-wire adapter attached to a spare
PC port.
