Development
e-Governance is the use of technology for better governance and administration. For
Governments to function in an efficient and transparent manner and using available
resources optimally, technology needs to be harnessed to play a very important role in
governance.
Relevant use of technology helps the government to channelize available resources for
better productivity.
 It increases transparency and reduces overall costs. Governments all over the world
have, therefore, been embracing technology in various aspects of governance - be it
revenue collection, public distribution, skill enhancement or infrastructure development.
Stages in e-governance:
1. Technology Frameworks.
2. Digitization
3. Citizen access

Before use the e-governance application we need to think about many
things like
Is the technology infrastructure ready? - can we connect e-governance system.
Is the legal infrastructure is ready ? - is it legal ways which we will use?
Is institutional infrastructure is ready?
Is human manpower is ready? -- Who can manipulate the system
 Is the technology framework ready?
What is e-readiness?
E-readiness refers to a country's capacity and state of preparedness to participate in the
electronic world.
It is also the process of understanding the mission of the ICT to the organizations. The maturity
of citizens, businesses and governments for participating in the electronic world (e-commerce,
e-government etc.) is called readiness.
The readiness of a country, region or entity (e.g. corporation) to utilize information and
communication technologies for supporting welfare and growth
In a simple form, It is a process to managing the hardware, software, network, application
tools for ICT

E-Readiness is one of the important factor for the digitizing Society. The calculation of e-
Readiness deals with many kinds of Social aspects related with Economical matters, Cultural
matters, Literacy rate, Poverty etc.
It is not a simply matter of number of the computer , websites and mobile phones in the nations
but also things such as its access among the citizens , how they utilize those technologies and
how skillful they are etc.
Is the ability to use ICTs to develop one’s economy, to foster one’s welfare, and better
participate in the global socio-economic value chains. Network readiness index estimating the
level of progress of a given entity (country) in developing significantly the quality and the extent
of it ICT infrastructure, e-skills and relevant regulations. Degree of preparedness of a country
for implementing e-governance
