Title β Football or School
Synopsis β DD is a skilled football player
who has a lot of potential, he has a lot of
love and passion for the sport and hopes
he will play on a professional football level
one day. DD also is a clever young man
who has good grades in school and he is
the favourite student of most teachers, he
always gets one of the highest grades on
tests and exams and has high predicted
grades.
3. TREATMENT
Running time β 4-6 minutes
Genre - Drama
Narrative
The equilibrium: DD is a boy that attends school and has good grades, he also plays for a
football team.
The conflict: DD gets picked out by an international scout from Spain and has to go for
trials to play for an academy which could lead to him playing for a professional team very
soon but leave his friends and family, he also has GCSES exams he has to take at the
same time if he wants to become an accountant.
The conflict is confronted by DD being having to choose between school and football and
weighs his options and has to follow his heart into which path he wants the most.
End: After struggling to choose he picks football over school.
4. TREATMENT
Purpose β The purpose of this short film is for me to gain more
recognition as a film director and potentially gain a funding to create
bigger projects.
Thematics β The message I am trying to portray to the audience is that if
they have to make a decision which doesnβt have to be between school
and football but can be any major decision and they shouldnβt be
pressured into making a decision that will benefit someone else rather
than themselves.
5. CHARACTER BREAKDOWN
DD β Protagonist β DD is a person who is kind and caring and he is good in school and loves football, he usually
wears a tracksuit because they are more comfortable and it allows him to play football at anytime. He is important
to the story because he is the person with the conflict and the audience will be mainly focussed on him.
Aaron β protagonists best friend β Aaron is very similar to DD, he also loves football but isnβt doing as well in
school and wants to focus on football. Aaron and DD grew up together and play for the same time. He is important
because he supports DD and wants to see him make it far.
The family β DDβs family β this will be a small group of people who are part of his family these people are
important because it shows that he has people who support him and give him advice.
10. POST PRODUCTION
Development - This short film could be developed into a film by making the story
longer and adding more minor threads. This also could be the end up developing into
a story mode in a football game and the end of the game mode would be open.
Screening and Distribution - This can be seen in short film award ceremonies. This
could also be seen on Channel 4 before the 7pm news.
legal and ethical consideration - When shooting i have to be careful not to record
anything that will get us in trouble or anyone that has not agreed to be recorded.
11. TARGET AUDIENCE
Primary target audience - The primary target audience are film
producers because i am a young film maker who is trying to get a
budget to make a film. the film producers are usually aged between
35-45 and are usually in the βBβ class on the socio economic
grouping chart.
Secondary audience - The secondary audience are youths aged between 15-21 because they watch
Hollyoaks and this plays right before it will be shown. these people would be grouped βEβ or βDβ on the
socio economic grouping charts because at this age it is likely they are not in employment and if they
are they are likely not to be in a high profile job role.
