This document provides technical documentation for an upgrade project for Smith & Nephew. (A).
Description: : In Unicode systems, the variable/constant with type ‘X’ cannot be directly converted into
type ‘C/STRING’ as in version 4.6c
1) In ECC up gradation the variable/constant with type ‘X’ for horizontal tab cannot be
converted into Type C.
2) So the variable should be a declared as character-type data object (like C, N, D, T or
STRING with a Value CL_ABAP_CHAR_UTILITIES=>HORIZONTAL_TAB.
For example:
C_X type C value CL_ABAP_CHAR_UTILITIES=>HORIZONTAL_TAB.
3) The method CL_ABAP_CHAR_UTILITIES is for processing of characters.
Old code:
Data: C_X type X value ‘09’.
New code :
Data: C_X type c value CL_ABAP_CHAR_UTILITIES=>HORIZONTAL_TAB.
(B).
Description: In Unicode program the addition MODE should be specified while using the statement
‘DESCRIBE FIELD dobj LENGTH ‘.
