This document discusses the concept of "warfare with the world" according to Christian theology. It defines what is meant by "the world" from biblical perspectives, including that it refers to humanity in a state of opposition to God. It warns about the dangers and deceptions of the world, and notes that Christians will face persecution from the world. However, it also discusses that through being born again and walking with God's spirit, Christians can overcome the world. Ultimately, the world in its current form will pass away, but believers will inherit a new heaven and earth.

It is the human Jesus (fully divine, fully human) who resisted the temptations of Satan by his lived experience of the Scriptures. This gives us hope that we can resist temptations by (1) knowing ourselves; (2) developing a plan to resist; (3) avoid temptations; (4) resist and pray; and to (5) get the help of theirs.

How do you respond to the idea that there are spiritual powers and demons in the universe that are working against God's will?
How are you aware of the spiritual warfare around you? If Satan is a "deceiver" and our Lord calls him "the father of lies" then how have his lies affected your life? What lies have you believed (in the past, or possibly now) about yourself, others and God? These and other questions are addressed in this study.

In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

ideas, people,
activities, purposes; it
is the system that keeps
things going.”
- Warren Wiersbe

Simply put: It is a system that opposes God.

6. What is the World?
1. Man’s Fallen Nature
quot; For all that is in the
world, the lust of the flesh
and the lust of the eyes and
the boastful pride of life,
is not from the Father, but
is from the world.quot;(1 John
2:16)
2. Satan

and that the whole world lies
in the power of the evil
one.quot;(1 John 5:19)

11. State of the World
quot; And the devil said to Him, “I
will give You all this domain and
its glory; for it has been handed
over to me, and I give it to
whomever I wish. “Therefore if You
worship before me, it shall all be
Yours.”quot;(Luke 4:6-7)

you, for the ruler of the world is
coming, and he has nothing in
Me;quot;(John 14:30)

12. State of the World
quot; And the great dragon was thrown down, the serpent of old
who is called the devil and Satan, who deceives the whole
world; he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels
were thrown down with him.quot;(Revelation 12:9)

in the power of the evil one.quot;(1 John 5:19)

God; this is the spirit of the antichrist, of which you
have heard that it is coming, and now it is already in the
world.quot;(1 John 4:3)

profit a man if he
gains the whole
world and forfeits
his soul? Or what
will a man give in
exchange for his
soul?“

- Warfare with the World
14. Warnings About the World
quot; For our struggle is not against flesh and
blood, but against the rulers, against the
powers, against the world forces of this
darkness, against the spiritual forces of
wickedness in the heavenly places.“
(Ephesians 6:12)
quot;Do not love the world nor the things in the
world. If anyone loves the world, the love of
the Father is not in him. For all that is in the

the Father, but is from the world.“

indeed take God's place; it will
either be megalomania or erotomania-

our God and Father is this: to visit orphans and
widows in their distress, and to keep oneself
unstained by the world.“

friendship with the world is hostility toward
God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of
the world makes himself an enemy of God.“

defilements of the world by the knowledge of the
Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again
entangled in them and are overcome, the last
state has become worse for them than the
first.quot;(2 Peter 2:20)

homosexuals have suffered based on what the suit claims is a
misinterpretation of the Bible. – Christianpost, July 2008
In British Columbia, Dr. Chris Kempling, a school counselor, was
suspended without pay for three months in 2005 for writing a letter to
the editor of the local newspaper criticizing the Liberal government's

Taliban gunmen shot and killed 34-year-old Gayle Williams, a Christian
aid worker in Kabul, as she was walking to work because she was

Taliban claimed responsibility for shooting Williams, a South African –
British national who worked with disabled Afghans. – October 2008.
On July 20, Pastor Abraham was assaulted by Hindu extremists in

Hindu group assaulted Pastor Abraham in the presence of his family
and congregation. During the attack the mob destroyed all the

22. Persecution From the World
“You are free in our time to say that God does not exist.
You are free to say that He does exist but He is evil. You
are free to say like some poor satirists that He would
like to exist if He could. You may talk of God as a
mystification or a metaphor. You may boil him down with
gallons of long words or boil him to the rags of
metaphysics, and it is not merely that no one punishes you
for it, but nobody protests. But if you speak of God as a
thing like a tiger - as a reason for changing one’s
conduct - then the modern world will stop you somehow if
it can. We have long past talking about whether an
unbeliever should be punished for being irreverent; it is
now thought irreverent to be a believer.”
- G. K. Chesterton

23. Struggle with the World

24. The Destiny of the World
quot;and those who use the world, as
though they did not make full use of
it; for the form of this world is
passing away.quot;(1 Cor. 7:31)
quot; But by His word the present heavens
and earth are being reserved for
fire, kept for the day of judgment
and destruction of ungodly men…But
the day of the Lord will come like a

will be destroyed with intense heat,
and the earth and its works will be

27. The Plan of God
“We look back into the Scriptures and
see that the true Church was to be
composed of those were born again,
called out of the world and hated by
