The energy meter is an electrical
measuring device which is used to
record electricity energy consumed
over a secified period of the in
terms of units.
WHAT IS ENERGY METER
• ENERGY METER is a device that measures the amount of electrical
energy consumed by residence or commercial unit over a period of
time.
Energy=Power X Time
• The most common unit of measurement on the electricity meter is
the kilowatt hour, which is equal to the amount of energy used by a
load of one kilowatt over a period of one hour, or 36,00,000joules.

Accucheck Testing kit
Step
1. Connect CT Coil wiring on load side.
2. While giving PT first Neutral to be given
& then step by step phase to be given
3. While removing PT first remove phase
step by step and then last earthing.
4. After doing CT Coil & PT wiring, verify
Voltage, Amp. & Load PF of Meter with
accucheck. They are almost same
depend on variable load
• For dial test: Go in setting of accuchek. After that set
• Current range: 50 A
• Voltage Range: 240 V
• Testing Mode: ST/ST

Transformer
Transformer is static device which is used to transfer
electrical energy from one ac circuit to other ac circuit,
with increase or decrease in voltage / current but
without any change in frequency.
Principle Operation:
• Primary winding is connected to 1-phase ac supply, an ac current starts flowing
through it.
• Primary current produce alternating flux in core.
• This changing flux gets linked with secondary winding through the core.
• The varying flux will induce voltage into secondary winding according to
faraday's law of electromagnetic induction.
• These transformers are mostly use for step up or step down the voltage.

Lightning Arrester:
Lightning arresters are used to protect electric
fences. They consist of a spark gap and
sometimes a series inductor. Such type of
equipment is also used for protecting
transmitters feeding a mast radiator. For such
devices the series inductance has usually just
one winding.
