Universal Design for Learning (UDL) is a framework for teaching that provides multiple means of representation, engagement, and action to accommodate the individual needs and abilities of all students. The three principles of UDL are to provide multiple means of representation, engagement, and action and expression. Implementing UDL requires identifying barriers for each student and modifying lessons, curriculum, and assessments to ensure all students can understand and participate in learning.

Instruction? (UDL)
 UDL is a way to ensure that each student
achieves success in the classroom.
 It is a way of modifying the curriculum to
accommodate each child regardless of
their needs.

 Deciding what the barriers are for each
student and planning to move around these
barriers and learn the information.
 Working with other teachers to decide how to
teach to reach all students.
 UDL is good for EVERYONE. Not any specific
type of student/person.
 Taking the time to make sure that each lesson
can be understood by every type of student
in your classroom.
