Universal Design for Learning (UDL) is a framework for curriculum development that provides flexible options for how information is presented, how students respond or demonstrate their knowledge, and ways to keep students engaged to accommodate individual learning differences. UDL aims to give all students equal opportunities to learn by presenting content in multiple formats and allowing for varied ways for students to demonstrate what they know based on their individual strengths. The three principles of UDL are providing multiple means of representation to address different ways of acquiring knowledge, multiple means of action and expression to differ learning, and multiple means for engagement to stimulate motivation and interest.
