There a lot of factors working behind when an individual goes for engineering. Some of the students have their dream from childhood to become a quality engineer in the future. They make the study plan accordingly, pass the joint entrance, and get admission to the relevant college. Whereas, some tend to go for the program only because they think it is prestigious!
Even some students are of the belief that not going for engineering or medical after reading science in the twelfth standard is a mismatch!
This approach to education is completely wrong. One should always go for a course they intend to. Moreover, the focus must stay on the brand and not on the College. After the outbreak of COVID 19 Higher education challenges and responses are ample in 2020 due to the major losses. One must be careful while choosing the right engineering college for them. Also, the students must be sure that they really want to take up this program.

ISLAMIC CREDIT CARD: STRUCTURES & ISSUES WITH SPECIAL FOCUS ON KHIDMAH CARD ...Md. Abdul Jalil Shiblu
This paper aims to review the Islamic credit card structures or models practiced and developed so far and their shari’ah aspects, especial focus is given to Khidmah card issued by Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited (IBBL). Resolutions of OIC Islamic Fiqh academy on credit card, recommendations of Shari'ah Advisory Council of the Bank Negara Malaysia, and three conditions suggested by Kahf & Mohomed (2016) are used for determining the Shari’ah status of Khidmah credit card.
This paper argues that Khidmah card maintains its shari’ah compliant status based on Ujrah model. The underlying theme is to charge service fees for providing payment mechanism & loan related services. OIC Fiqh Academy allowed charging fees for loan related services. The underlying contract in Khidmah Card between IBBL and cardholders is Kafalah or guarantee and scholars differed whether guarantor can charge fees or not for providing services. IBBL doesn’t charge any commission directly for providing guarantees.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

of a centre within the same city/town will also NOT be permitted under any
circumstances.
6. NATIONALITY
Candidates who are NOT citizens of India at the time of registering for UCEED 2015 (by
birth or naturalized) are treated as foreign nationals. Seats allotted to foreign nationals
are supernumerary. However, appearing in UCEED is a must for the admission. The
availability of supernumerary seats will be announced at the time of seat allocation.
7. RESERVATION OF SEATS
Indian nationals belonging to certain categories are admitted under the seats reserved
for them in accordance with the rules of the Government of India. The categories and
the extent of reservation are as follows:
o Other Backward Classes belonging to the Non-Creamy Layer (OBC-NCL) – 27%
of seats in the course. The backward class should be in the central list of OBCs
(http://www.ncbc.nic.in) as of June 1, 2014.
o Candidates belonging to the creamy layer of OBC are NOT entitled for
reservation. Such candidates are treated as belonging to the general (GEN) (i.e.,
unreserved) category.
o Scheduled Caste (SC) – 15% of seats in the course.
o Scheduled Tribe (ST) – 7.5% of seats in the course.
o The benefit of reservation will be given only to those castes and tribes that are

included in PwD category.
o Candidates belonging to the OBC-NCL, SC, ST and PwD categories will be
declared as qualified on the basis of a relaxed criterion [see 22. RANK LISTS].
o Unfilled seats in the OBC-NCL category can be allotted to GEN category
candidates whereas seats remaining vacant under the SC and ST categories
shall NOT be allotted to candidates belonging to other categories.
o The 3% reservation for PwD candidates, which is translated to 1 seat, will be
cycled over in a 4-year period category-wise in the sequence, GEN, OBC, SC and
ST. Thus for the academic year 2015-16, the 1 PwD seat will be allotted from the
General category. If the PwD seat remains unfilled in a particular year, it will be
reverted back to the category from which the PwD seat was assigned for that
year.
o The category chosen by a candidate at the time of registration for UCEED
2015 will be final and requests for any change of category will NOT be
entertained at a later date.

If UCEED 2015 is conducted in two sessions, the following normalization is applied to take into
account any variation in the difficulty levels of the question papers across the two sessions.
The normalization is done based on the fundamental assumption that "in all multi-session
exam papers, the distribution of abilities of candidates is the same across all the sessions". This
assumption is justified since the number of candidates appearing in the two papers in UCEED
2015 will be large and the procedure of allocation of session to candidates will be random.
Further, the number of candidates allotted in each session of UCEED 2015 will be of the same
order of magnitude.
Based on the above, and considering various normalization methods, the UCEED 2015
committee arrived at the following formula for calculating the normalized marks, Session 1
and Session 2 papers (See GATE 2015 Information Brochure, Page 73 for details).
Normalized Mark of jth
candidate in the ith
session 𝑀̂𝑖𝑗 is given by:
𝑀𝑖𝑗
̂ =
𝑀̅ 𝑡
𝑔
− 𝑀 𝑞
𝑔
𝑀̅ 𝑡𝑖 − 𝑀𝑖𝑞
(𝑀𝑖𝑗 − 𝑀𝑖𝑞) + 𝑀 𝑞
𝑔
Where,
o 𝑀̂𝑖𝑗 is the actual marks obtained by the jth
candidate in ith
session
o 𝑀̅ 𝑡
𝑔
is the average marks of the top 0.1% of the candidates considering both sessions
o 𝑀 𝑞
𝑔
is the sum of mean and standard deviation marks of the candidates in the paper
considering all sessions
o 𝑀̅ 𝑡𝑖 is the average marks of the top 0.1% of the candidates in the ith
session
o 𝑀𝑖𝑞is the sum of the mean marks and standard deviation of the ith
session
After the evaluation of the answers, normalized marks based on the above formula will be
calculated corresponding to the raw marks obtained by a candidate for Session 1 and Session
2 papers. ONLY this normalized marks will form the basis for the rank list.
