UCC AUSTRALIA COMPANY PROFILE 2015 4
A HISTORY OF SUCCESS
Established in 1996, UCC provides major Australian retailers with a
large variety of everyday products.
We source and offer for sale our own products, driven by
opportunities as they present themselves, from all over the world,
BUT we also source to specific Retailer request, and we have a
strong history of success with Australia’s major retailers
Through our strong relationships, operational efficiency and
innovation, we have built a reputation for delivering high quality
products, on time and at very competitive prices - to the benefit
of our key brand partners and retailers alike.
Our success has seen us become the exclusive Australian
Distributor for a number of products.
We pride ourselves on servicing the needs of both large and
small retailers plus providing reach and exposure for brands to
the Australian market.
UCC has grown substantially over the last 5 years. Our new
warehouse was designed to open the door for further growth. It
is completely within UCC’s capabilities to not only manage, but
also grow your Brand in Australia.

high quality products”

A TRUSTED & SUCCESSFUL PARTNER
[KODAK CASE STUDY]
In 2010, Kodak selected UCC as its go to market partner and
co-account manager for the Officeworks Account. (UCC has
been working with Kodak since 1999).
Within just four months of the initial conversations, we commenced
full integration with managing the Officeworks account in
conjunction with Kodak.
From recruiting experienced sales staff, to the upgrading of EDI
systems and warehouse capabilities, we put in place a solid
infrastructure to manage the sizable growth in total business.
Officeworks offers a Kodak photo printing solution across its 153
store network nationally.
The successful partnership between Kodak and UCC can be
measured by the fact that Officeworks recently reviewed the
photo printing business via a formal, extensive tender process and
decided to re-sign a multi-year contract with Kodak and UCC.
The in-store photo printing solution has now been completely
upgraded in all stores to provide customers with the latest, best
in class photo experience which is helping the business to enjoy
healthy year on year growth. We have a proven track record of
managing significant growth within our business. And doing it well.

A TRUSTED & SUCCESSFUL PARTNER
[LEXAR CASE STUDY]
UCC have been a supplier of Kodak Recordable Media to Coles since 2009.
For a number of years, UCC had approached the idea of brand exclusivity
with Coles and the benefits that come with dealing with one supplier.
Unfortunately, Coles went a number of years without a range review for the
category which left their hands tied in regards to making any key changes.
This resulted in having a range that was out dated in comparison with the
rest of the market in both product and price. In 2013, Coles announced that
a range review would take place – this was our opportunity to offer Coles a
perfect solution.
After many discussions between UCC and Coles, Coles agreed that the way
forward would be to have an exclusive brand for the total memory category.
This would include both recordable media (CDs and DVDs) and Memory
(USBs, Memory Cards and Micro SD Cards). The tender was open to all current
suppliers including TDK, Memorax, Sony and Verbatim. UCC presented a total
solution for the category with Kodak Recordable Media and Lexar Memory
which was sharp on price, an increase in rebates, a generous % allocation
towards marketing funds and a range that consisted of the highest volume
and profit driving lines whilst cutting down on shelf space. In accordance to
the Coles style guide, UCC also developed “Shelf Ready Trays” for all products.
The UCC proposal was a success and in 2014, UCC become the sole supplier
for all memory and recordable media in Coles nationally. In a short amount of
time due to UCC’s guidance, memory sales have doubled and Coles is now
a true competitor in this space with the right range at the right price.
UCC also became the distributor for Big W in December 2014 and is now the
second largest Lexar distributor in the country.

with other brand Key Account Managers with the aim to reduce
channel conflict as much as possible.

possible return on investment in each of the accounts.
UCC plans our promotional activities and support BEFORE the
products are on the shelf. We cost, budget for, and spend, our

[Inventory Management]
Our fully modular and Bespoke ERP system can be configured to
give tailor make reporting and forecasting tools, in real time, or as
need by Suppliers, Retailers, or for our own administrative needs
It is fully compatible with SAP, Dynamic and all major ERP systems
At any given time we can see exactly what is happening with our
products, or likewise tell you exactly what is happening in terms
of sales, re-order requirements, stock holding, etc.
[Rotating in NPD]
As part of UCC’s warehouse management system, we have
a regular date coding report which is analysed weekly. UCC’s
warehousing system works on an oldest date first pulling system.
Lead-times would differ depending on where the product is
sourced from. The UCC system is more than capable of doing
that as it currently does for the many varying products we have
today.
[Discount Channel Activation
of Dated Stock]
UCC supplies stock to all levels of the Australian Retail trade. From
tier one Retailers, all the way to short life and clearance Retailers
Letting date sensitive stock expire is bad news, still holding that
stock at expiry is a disaster. We pro-actively monitor and action
short dated stock to make sure losses are minimised and that all
stock is put to commercial use.

  • 5. UCC AUSTRALIA COMPANY PROFILE 2015 5 A TRUSTED & SUCCESSFUL PARTNER [KODAK CASE STUDY] In 2010, Kodak selected UCC as its go to market partner and co-account manager for the Officeworks Account. (UCC has been working with Kodak since 1999). Within just four months of the initial conversations, we commenced full integration with managing the Officeworks account in conjunction with Kodak. From recruiting experienced sales staff, to the upgrading of EDI systems and warehouse capabilities, we put in place a solid infrastructure to manage the sizable growth in total business. Officeworks offers a Kodak photo printing solution across its 153 store network nationally. The successful partnership between Kodak and UCC can be measured by the fact that Officeworks recently reviewed the photo printing business via a formal, extensive tender process and decided to re-sign a multi-year contract with Kodak and UCC. The in-store photo printing solution has now been completely upgraded in all stores to provide customers with the latest, best in class photo experience which is helping the business to enjoy healthy year on year growth. We have a proven track record of managing significant growth within our business. And doing it well.
  • 6. UCC AUSTRALIA COMPANY PROFILE 2015 6 A TRUSTED & SUCCESSFUL PARTNER [LEXAR CASE STUDY] UCC have been a supplier of Kodak Recordable Media to Coles since 2009. For a number of years, UCC had approached the idea of brand exclusivity with Coles and the benefits that come with dealing with one supplier. Unfortunately, Coles went a number of years without a range review for the category which left their hands tied in regards to making any key changes. This resulted in having a range that was out dated in comparison with the rest of the market in both product and price. In 2013, Coles announced that a range review would take place – this was our opportunity to offer Coles a perfect solution. After many discussions between UCC and Coles, Coles agreed that the way forward would be to have an exclusive brand for the total memory category. This would include both recordable media (CDs and DVDs) and Memory (USBs, Memory Cards and Micro SD Cards). The tender was open to all current suppliers including TDK, Memorax, Sony and Verbatim. UCC presented a total solution for the category with Kodak Recordable Media and Lexar Memory which was sharp on price, an increase in rebates, a generous % allocation towards marketing funds and a range that consisted of the highest volume and profit driving lines whilst cutting down on shelf space. In accordance to the Coles style guide, UCC also developed “Shelf Ready Trays” for all products. The UCC proposal was a success and in 2014, UCC become the sole supplier for all memory and recordable media in Coles nationally. In a short amount of time due to UCC’s guidance, memory sales have doubled and Coles is now a true competitor in this space with the right range at the right price. UCC also became the distributor for Big W in December 2014 and is now the second largest Lexar distributor in the country.
