In college, I studied illustrated books from an academic standpoint. I went to Vassar, where
children's book writer Nancy Willard was on faculty. She introduced me to illustrator Barry Moser,
and the interview he gave me was the centerpiece of my senior thesis. While I was there, I spent
three years as a student assistant in Vassar's lab pre–school, and after graduation found work as an
assistant teacher in a Montessori school, teaching 6–9 year olds. That year, I began to write a novel

Emotional bullying is when kids hurt others feeling. Lastly verbal bullying is when kids get
bullied by words or foul language and get put down. All of these types of bullying bring damages to
a kid physiologically.
Kids get bullied in school a lot. Sometimes, they do not have the best clothes, or because they are
not economically the same as others. Some get bullied because they are not as social as other
kids and prefer to stay alone most of the time. Physical appearance meaning as in size, color, or
ethnicity can cause a kid to get bullied in school also. What do these kids go through? They get
pushed at in the hallways. They get named called in class with words such as "freak" or "lame".
Not only that, sometimes these kids aren't allowed to sit in certain areas in the lunch tables or they
would get teased at for just being there. The commonest type of bullying is general name calling,
followed by being hit, threatened, or having rumors spread about one. Bullying is thought to be
more prevalent among boys and the youngest pupils in a school (smith 1). What are the effects

of workgroups and work teams. While in a work team, members help create and gather information,

teams. It is also important to be aware of the obstacles that exist while trying to construct an effective

There are differences between a workgroup and a work team. A group "is two or more interacting
and interdependent individuals who come together to achieve particular objectives." (Robbin,
DeCenzo, & Robert, 2013) In a workgroup, individuals, usually three or more, come together to
share information and make decisions to help each other achieve their organizational goal. For
example, "a small business may have a client services group, but one person may focus on local
clients, one person may focus on regional clients and a third person may assist those individuals.
Also, groups tend to be permanent fixtures with ongoing goals

All that was left was the bathroom and my bedroom. I snuck into the bedroom, wielding the sharp
knife in terror, and bent over to look under the bed. No one was there. I silently released my
breath and turned toward the closet. I opened the closet carefully and switched on the light.
Again, no one was there. I had one place left to look: the bathroom. This was probably the hardest
place, because I had seen too many movies where someone was hiding in the shower. Nonetheless,
I crept into the tiny bathroom and flipped on the light switch. The navy blue shower curtain hung
there concealing whatever fate lay before me. I reached my hand out toward the curtain, paused a
moment, steeling myself and summoning the last of my courage, and committed myself to the
search. I grabbed the edge of the curtain and whipped it back in a flash, preparing myself to use
the knife on the fiend hiding in there. I trembled as the knife dropped out of my hand. No one
was there. Relief flooded me so strongly that I nearly crumpled to the floor. Later, after I had
called my boyfriend back, he remembered that he had gone by the apartment while I was gone and
dropped off a book I was reading. I had forgotten that he had a key. He had forgotten he'd been there
and closed the door. That was one wild homecoming!
