Liverpool John Moores University's strapline for our students is Dream, Plan, Achieve. During this interactive workshop, we intend to share our experiences of how we successfully deployed Blackboard Mobile Learn across the institution through 'dream', 'plan' and 'achieve' stages of implementation. We will cover our:
• Pre-implementation drivers (dream)
• 'Soft', rapid but meticulous launch (plan)
• Post-implementation evaluation and responses to promote adoption (achieve)
Throughout the presentation, we will invite participants to share their views or experiences from their particular perspectives, as existing users or those contemplating Blackboard Mobile Learn implementation. These will be captured and shared back to the room using the Socrative app. We hope that everyone who attends will find the workshop worthwhile and that it will promote further discussion after the session.

Tim O'Reilly and Sarah Milstein, Twitter experts and coauthors of the "The Twitter Book," show you how to use Twitter more effectively, whether you're on the site for personal socializing or to meet business goals. They explain why Twitter is emerging as an important channel, and they share key tips--along with compelling, real-life examples--from power users. These are Sarah's slides from the second part of the presentation.
Social Media Facts
Twitter grew rapidly from 8 employees in 2009 to over 400 in 2011, and currently has around 110 million monthly active users. Instagram has 500 million monthly active users, with 59% using it daily, and is projected to surpass Google and Twitter in US mobile ad revenues by 2017. Facebook has over 1.59 billion users, introduced 360-degree videos, and has a feature where posts can be translated into "pirate" language.
Hacking the Conversation
This document discusses hacking conversations to gain consumer insights. Traditional product research is structured and directed, but unstructured conversations online provide real-time, cost-efficient feedback without bias. An analysis of online conversations found that 18% were about quality of care, driven by a few individuals amplifying negative news. The document advocates listening to online conversations rather than just monitoring them and provides questions to help analyze conversational data, like asking how the data reflects consumer perspectives or the causes behind what is seen.

Get Your Snapchat Game On Point
The document discusses the results of a study on the effects of exercise on memory and thinking abilities in older adults. The study found that regular exercise can help reduce the decline in thinking abilities that often occurs with age. Specifically, aerobic exercise was shown to improve executive function and memory in adults aged 60-79 who exercised for 30-45 minutes three times per week over the course of a 6-month study period.

Snapchat allows users to send temporary photos and videos. Brands can create accounts to share exclusive offers, customer service, announcements and partner with influencers. Content is created using photos, videos and text with various customization options. Success can be measured by engagement metrics like views, completions and screenshots. Additional features include lenses, filters and discovery through apps like Ghost Codes.

Creating and maintaining a social media presence event – 20 June 2014
The sigma North West and North Wales Hub is holding an event, Creating and maintaining a social media presence at Liverpool John Moores University on Friday 20 June, starting at 10am.
In the morning LJMU’s Alex Spiers will give an introduction to Twitter &c. This is something he does on HEA training courses so he is in a good position to guide novices. Janette Matthews, who looks after the sigma network website, will talk about the use you can make of the website to share news and information.
In the afternoon there will be an opportunity for presentations from colleagues around the UK on the uses they are already making of social media in mathematics and statistics support.
Leslie Fletcher, the Hub co- ordinator, has put out a general call for contributions on the sigma JISCmail list (http://www.jiscmail.ac.uk/sigma-network) and would like to have offers of short talks on this theme as soon as possible.

This is the presentation I gave at the Virtual Nurse Practice Development Conference on the 13th May 2015.
Many factors impact on the nurse's ability to develop practice. Lack of access to research, organisational barriers to implementation of evidence-based practice, managerial or even collegial constraints, as well as lack of personal critical-thinking and reflective skills. Developing virtual networks using online communication tools such as social media, and initiatives like the VIDPC allows nurses to break down traditional barriers to learning, and facilitates collaboration, sharing, scholarship and campaigns. Using examples from her own experience I will discuss how nurses can harness online networking for practice development at both individual and professional levels

Removing Uninteresting Bytes in Software Fuzzing
Imagine a world where software fuzzing, the process of mutating bytes in test seeds to uncover hidden and erroneous program behaviors, becomes faster and more effective. A lot depends on the initial seeds, which can significantly dictate the trajectory of a fuzzing campaign, particularly in terms of how long it takes to uncover interesting behaviour in your code. We introduce DIAR, a technique designed to speedup fuzzing campaigns by pinpointing and eliminating those uninteresting bytes in the seeds. Picture this: instead of wasting valuable resources on meaningless mutations in large, bloated seeds, DIAR removes the unnecessary bytes, streamlining the entire process.
In this work, we equipped AFL, a popular fuzzer, with DIAR and examined two critical Linux libraries -- Libxml's xmllint, a tool for parsing xml documents, and Binutil's readelf, an essential debugging and security analysis command-line tool used to display detailed information about ELF (Executable and Linkable Format). Our preliminary results show that AFL+DIAR does not only discover new paths more quickly but also achieves higher coverage overall. This work thus showcases how starting with lean and optimized seeds can lead to faster, more comprehensive fuzzing campaigns -- and DIAR helps you find such seeds.
