The UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are designed to give a roadmap from 2015 to 2030. They are a follow up to the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) established in 2000. Over the next few months ... by early in 2016, these goals will be supplemented by a set of performance indicators that are still to be developed
2. CONTEXT
This slideset is a Work-in-Progress
and will be updated from time to time.
It is part of a series that aims to
describe the extremely complex
socio-enviro-economic system that
we live in, and how better metrics will
make this system work better.
TRUE VALUE ACCOUNTING
3. BACKGROUND
The UN and World Bank have been in
existence for 70 years, and some of
their accomplishments have been
very significant … but there are
questions about the PROGRESS of
development and PERFORMANCE of
their programs and projects.
TRUE VALUE ACCOUNTING
4. In 2000, to address the question of
PROGRESS and PERFORMANCE in
development, the UN launched the
Millennium Development Goals
(MDGs), a set of coherent goals to be
achieved by 2015.
TRUE VALUE ACCOUNTING
5. Now it is 2015, and while much has
been accomplished since 2000, there
is still a lot of work to be done. As a
follow on the UN has now launched
another 15 year program called the
Sustainable Development Goals
(SDGs).
TRUE VALUE ACCOUNTING
6. This slideset aims to help navigate
the goals … and sets the stage to
help with the development of a
coherent framework of metrics that
will help to manage resources to get
the best possible results.
