The employment rate in Turkey increased 0.9 percentage points to 48% from June 2017 to the same period in the previous year. The number of employed persons rose by over 1 million, with increases in both agricultural (180k) and non-agricultural employment (872k). The unemployment rate remained unchanged at 10.2%, while the non-agricultural unemployment rate also did not change at 12.2%. Youth aged 15-24 made up 16.3% of Turkey's population of nearly 80 million. The youth unemployment rate decreased from 20% in September 2017 to 19.3% in October 2017.
