This document provides a short introduction to Tangible User Interfaces (TUI). It discusses the evolution of interfaces from Command Line User Interfaces (CUI) which require remembering and typing commands to Graphical User Interfaces (GUI) which use seeing, pointing and clicking. TUI provides an interface where people interact with digital information through physical objects and environments, giving physical form to digital information and making bits directly manipulable. Examples of TUI include the daily stack, augmented urban planning models, and Microsoft Surface.
